Once again #KDE tries to get rid of minority distributions. This time by replacing SDDM with PLM (plasma login manager). PLM depends on systemd.
So sooner or later no KDE for #alpineLinux, #FreeBSD, #Gentoo, #NetBSD, #OpenBSD, #Slackware, #VoidLinux, etc.
For #BLFS it is no problem as BLFS itself recently discontinued its non-systemd version.

I don't think #LFS dropping #sysvinit is a big deal, but I have backed up LFS 12.4 anyway.
It's less than 600 MB, including all tarballs and patches. It's almost nothing for modern storage devices.
Newer versions of LFS won't test against sysvinit anymore, but the old instructions should still work for a few years without changing.

Ich persönlich finde es auch ein wenig schade, kann aber die Entscheidung verstehen.
As a personal note, I do not like this decision. To me LFS is about learning how a system works. Understanding the boot process is a big part of that. systemd is about 1678 "C" files plus many data files. System V is "22" C files plus about 50 short bash scripts and data files. Yes, systemd provides a lot of capabilities, but we will be losing some things I consider important.
Linux From Scratch reluctantly confirms a systemd-only future, ending System V init development due to mounting maintenance pressure and upstream changes.

Does #LFS really help you understand Linux? Because even just using a slightly less user-friendly distro without a desktop makes it feel like Linux is an IKEA kit OS, but with each part made by a different vendor. :E
Sometimes I wonder if it's even possible to understand Linux. It's never still long enough to document it, which is NOT a compliment. :P
