I rolled the #tumbleweed over to the #slowroll. I am preferring greater stability over cutting edge.

Now I have my main pc and main lappy on the Slowroll, my favorite flavor of #opensuse

:linux: It appears that #opensuse #slowroll is the near perfect distro for me :opensuse:

Beim Updaten mit #zypper kann man sich nun sehr einfach unterschiedliche Infos anzeigen lassen, z.B. alte/neue Version.

It kind of blows my mind 🤯 that the 2011 #Macbook Pro running #MacOSX 10.6 feels/seems snappier than my 2014 MacBook Pro running #Opensuse #Slowroll.

I did have to mask/disable #PackageKitD and remove #Gnome Software on the 2014 MB as it was eating up the CPU. Maybe that was part of the slowness feeling issue? 🤷

Auf einem alten Laptop #chachyos installiert. Mal gespannt wie es sich zu #opensuse #slowroll bzw. #tumbleweed schlägt.
Ausschlaggebend war #btrfs + rolling release.

@opensuse That failed and so did the #Slowroll. All froze up/crashed after second login.

Sadly, it looks like my main pc will not be a SUSE computer.

So I am off to other pastures for a #Linux operating system.

La sigh…. After a third attempt to install #Tumbleweed on the main pc it failed just like the first two. Same issue of it locking up after the second login.

Welp, let’s see if #Slowroll will work 🤷

@GONICUS @eu_os Why not use this effort and money to support #openSUSE instead? Seems like less work and openSUSE has #Leap, #Slowroll, and #Tumbleweed for any use case I could think of. 🙂 It has support for a lot of software. Isn't it a better idea than start from the scratch (again)?

Oh, great! This morning (after a #Slowroll update), @kde has finally reached feature parity between #Wayland and #X11 for me: When I try to log in, I get only black screen in both cases.

EDIT: My apologies to #KDE. This was a hanging ssh-add process waiting for a password on an apparently random terminal (definitely not visible on screen). It was started by keychain, which I added to my bash profile to work around missing ssh-agent support in Wayland sessions. After I killed it using SSH from another computer, my desktop environment is now back to #SNAFU (freezing and crashing) behaviour.

Taking a hard left and I am going to install #OpenSUSE #Leap

Lets see how this stacks up the the #Slowroll that I am rocking on the laptop.

I use #opensuse #tumbleweed #kde is preselected during instalation but #gnome is running fine on opensuse. Tumbleweed is a rolling release, always top edge new software versions. But: very frequent updates. #Slowroll is a rolling release with slower update frquency.
