I think #labwc gives you the old school right click menu too if you want. It's a Wayland Openbox clone and pretty cool too.

Woah, avant de refaire une installation fraîche de #cosmic sur #endeavouros , j'ai décidé de tester le rajout de #COSMIC sur mon autre portable qui roule #Endeavouros avec #lxqt en #Wayland avec #labwc et les résultats sont... bizarres lol.
La capture d'écran fonctionne MAIS j'ai un minimum de trois applis qui ne fonctionnent pas donc le Terminal de COSMIC. J'ai donc utilisé celui de #lxqt (appelé qt terminal) pour vérifier ce qui se passe.

Very interesting table showing which #Wayland compositor supports which Wayland protocols. I was surprised to see that #gnome's #mutter has implemented substantially fewer protocols than #KDE's #KWin, and also #Sway, #Cosmic, #Hyprland, #Niri, #Labwc, #Wayfire, #Tray, and #Treeland. I am particularly surprised, because the Wayland experience in Gnome is mostly flawless and smooth.

Bonjour tout le monde et desole pour le manque d'accent: je teste donc #endeavour en #wayland avec #labwc et la gestion pour changer de clavier ne fonctionne pas ni sur le parametrage de lxqt ni sur labwc lol, joie. On fait quand meme les mises a jour sur Ganymede et on regarde si on peut aussi essayer le labwc tweaks en version GTK et harmoniser la session qt en GTK donc le tout serait plus homogene quoi!
Autre option: verifier si Kwin, le compositeur de KDE peut gerer GTK et mon clavier. A+!
With zsh as login shell you use .zlogin to execute something on logi, on bash you place it at the bottom of your .bashrc
From what I remember from antix xinit didn't work but startx did, which has to do with how startx is defined and Xorg compiled. I don't recall the details and are outdated by now. If I am not mistaken the startx ensures a login session is active via consolekit2 or elogind for X to start.
WMs don't need a lm to run at all, it is mostly a desktop issue and this to run .desktop files that require more than user rights.
On arch based systems xinit is all you need to start an xserver, terminal, wm ... but still it depends how you compile xserver.
wayland wm like #labwc which is amazing, all you need is a seatd for the user and an xdg-runtime dir active.
#antix is good stuff trust them, great community too.
so, just decided to purge #elogind and use #turnstile (from antiX repos), as session/login manager...
+ #seatd (seat management)
+ #opensysusers
w/ runit init.
so far so good...,
xinit doesn´t autorun WM on login, still need to figure this out, but no big deal.. (+get to use #labwc compositor more often this way... )

Performance comparison of DEs on Wayland and X11 made in 2024: <https://everybytecounts.org/#desktop-environment-comparison>. Labwc for Wayland is the most lightweight losing only to a naked virtual console (TUI, w/o any GUI). And no, afaik you can't use bare Wayland w/o any compositor (labwc, cage-kiosk, e.g.) because someone has to handle user input, screen drawing, etc.

Bon, mon petit sbc ne veut toujours pas booter et il va probablement que je teste avec une autre distribution comme dietpi qui ont une image d'installation pour ce sbc mais en attendant, j'ai pu ameliorer mon setup d'experimentation de #lxqt en session #wayland grace a #labwc . C'est compatible avec les themes #openbox mais je vais verifier en RAM la consommation. Je reviens...
