If anyone out there is fairly new to Linux gaming, do not sleep on FreedroidRPG. :tux:

It plays similar to Diablo, has a simple but decent core gameplay loop.

The English is a bit rough but the story holds up well & I found enjoyable.

Can be played on pretty much most systems... I think.

However I do see freeBSD packages & freshports out there.

I'm poking around my old Mac OS X data from 2003–2007. I have a number of backup disk images (.dmg). I have been able to mount them on Linux with the help of https://github.com/citruz/dmgwiz It converts the DMG to a HFS+ disk image, which can then be loop mounted:

@vkc pushed me. After a few decades of #debian and a foolhardy year of #MacOsx I just installed #Fedora #AsahiLinux

Looking at the stats between my two old #Macbooks I can see why the older mac seems snapier. There is at most a 8% difference in performance between the two in benchmarking, but most tests are in the 2 to 4% range.

Given that the older mac is running it’s native OS (#MacOSX 10.6) and the newer one is running current #Opensuse is probably why the older mac feels snapier.

As an aside, the “jumps” in Intel Mac performance is pretty meh from year to year.

It kind of blows my mind 🤯 that the 2011 #Macbook Pro running #MacOSX 10.6 feels/seems snappier than my 2014 MacBook Pro running #Opensuse #Slowroll.

I did have to mask/disable #PackageKitD and remove #Gnome Software on the 2014 MB as it was eating up the CPU. Maybe that was part of the slowness feeling issue? 🤷

@claudiom @NebulaTide I always preferred #NetscapeNavigator over #InternetExplorer. I switched to #Firefox under #MacOSX when it first came out. I've used #Chrome and #Chromium off and on under #macOS (nee OS X, nee Mac OS X) and #OpenBSD.

At this point, while I still primarily use Firefox via #ffssb, I do occasionally use #UngoogledChromium and find it to be more performant. For example, #GoogleMeet works fine in Firefox, but #Zoom struggles when sharing video, so I use ungoogled for that.

After nearly 8 hours and a lot of sleuthing and general buggery, I finally am getting #MacOSX #SnowLeopard to install on my recently aquired late 2011 macbook!

I need a software recommendation. I'm looking for a file comparison tool, sort of like Meld for GNOME but a little more tailored to the experience of reconciling duplicate files on multiple hard drives.

The requirements
- #FOSS / #FLOSS
- Compares Files, tells you if it is on Drive A vs Drive B

The Nice To Haves
- Recursive
- Bitwise comparison (in case the paths or file names aren't exact)
- Multiple drives? Might be a stretch.
- MacOSX compatible, but failing that, Linux only is fine too

The Use Case
My partner has multiple hard drives that have acted as her ad-hoc digital backup solution for years. But not every drive has everything on it, and she's pretty sure some of it is redundant, sometimes even within the same drive.

She'd like to slim down her storage needs and KNOW for a fact where and what she has, and how many copies.
