Given that we'll unlikely get @EUCommission to abolish #Spyware like #eCall from #cars I propose that instead, manufacturers need to look outside that impractical envelope if they want to build #EVs (even #BEVs ffs!) that people can actually afford by focussing on other Vehicle classes.

• I know #L2e may be deemed too restrictive at a deadweight of 270kg, 4kW output [measured on the wheels], 45km/h tops and 1+1 capacity even tho this will be sufficient for most trips from #suburbia to #downtown in car-centric shitholes like #LA during #RushHour but I digress...

• #L5e removes the weight limitations (unlike #L6e & #L7e which only allows #batteries to be discounted from it's 425kg/450kg-600kg max deadweight) and keeps things at a reasonable 15kW output [system output] which is almost precisely 1/3 of my car but with #ElectricVehicles there's way more #torque and thus #acceleration, which is what makes a vehicle actually feel fast and zippy, so it should be on-par if not feel faster given that #Autobahn segments without speed limits are an exception and noone in their right mind expects a sub-€10k PLV to be cushy like an Audi A4.

• Also for fuck sake give us a goddamn #CCS2 #charging socket on the vehicle not just on €13k+ luxury scooters but on like everything because that's an #EU standard and every actual #ChargingStation should support that. If necessary make it a single-phase charging thing if that's the only way possible!

@glitzersachen @leanlearnlead problem is whilst #Germany and the rest of the #EU did standardize on #CCS2 for #ChargingStations, there's no mandate for all EVs to have the connector for it!

The whole #payment fiasco comes to it: I don't have to register to fill up a gas tank:

• All I've to do is pay after pumping or the gas station staff will call the police.

I don't think it's too much to ask to accept all common cashless payments either if they don't want the #cash with unmanned charging stations.

• I'm not even expecting them to accept #Monero or god forbid some #Shitcoins or some obscure single-bank - only payment system. If my local #Döner shop can do #NFC payments then the #TechBros that 'reinvent charging' can do so too.

@silvermoon82 the #CCS2 standard the #EU adopted and mandated has an electromechanic locking mechanism and recessed pins to both prevent #CableTheft and enshure #ElectricalSafety since these connectors are subject to thousands if not millions of connection cycles and adverse conditions, including heavy rain, showstorms, hail and pressure-washers!

• Making it basically impossible to hurt users unless they sabotage cables, connectors and outlets with custom made adaptors to trick the vehicle detect system.

@ulrichkelber bei kostenlosem, zeitlich unbegrenzten Laden ist der Erfolg auch kein Wunder...

• Klar liegt's unter anderem daran, dass die keinen geeichten Stromzähler verbaut hatten und daher eine Abrechnung nicht gesetzeskonform machbar war...

Problematisch ist eher dass #Elektroautos nur für jene praktikabel sind, die ne #Wallbox zuhause haben oder wo #Ladeinfrastruktur besser ausgebaut ist als der Bedarf.

• Wer nur #Tiefgarage oder #Außenstellplatz ohne Möglichkeit einer Ladestelle hat, ist oftmals gearscht.

#WasFehlt sind aber vorallem #PersonalLightVehicle statt #SuperUselelessVehicle denn Luxusspielzeuge wie der #WankPanzer von #Swasticar ist einfach überteuert und Modelle wie #OpelRocks und #CitroenAmi haben keine #CCS2-#Ladebuchse und können daher nicht an #Ladesäulenverordnung-konformen #Ladestellen geladen werden.

Der erste #CCS2 to #CHAdeMO-Adapter ist in #Europa erhältlich.

Viele Leute dachten, eine solche Umstellung sei unmöglich. Über 10 Jahre lang hatten #CHAdeMO-Fahrer keine andere Möglichkeit zum #Schnellladen. Es gibt fast keine neuen #CHAdeMO-Stationen und die Fahrer müssen sich vollständig auf die alte Infrastruktur verlassen. Auch deren Wartung wird vernachlässigt, was oft zu erfolglosen Ladeversuchen führt.

As for small EVs: If it doesn't have a #CCS2 connector and I can't charge it full in 30min from 0 it's not practical and I'm pretty shure every charging station will throw me out if it takes several hours to recharge.
