I finally got #Debian 12.0.1 i386 DVD version to install on this HP Stream 7 tablet - But it was a struggle and took a while.
Now I have a mostly usable system on it, but I'm not sure what I'll use the tablet for. LOL.

With my latest hardware upgrade to 27" 4K TFTs, it's almost impossible for me to use the new TFTs. Everything is tiny small. X11 doesn't have the advanced scaling options I've got with KDE on Wayland.

If anyone is still running #debian12 on a machine with software RAID, be advised about a problem with upgrading to #debian13 – yesterday it made my home server unbootable and I found the reason to be grub not detecting my RAID1 metadevice. A workaround is described here: https://gist.github.com/yorickdowne/3cecc7b424ce241b173510e36754af47 (thanks, Yorick!); fixing my server involved booting from USB and doing apt install --reinstall mdadm while chrooted to my original root FS.

Después de más de 1 año de uso continuo sin reinstalar y/o formatear el disco, Debian 12 funcionó sin problemas. Excelente. Fue la primera vez que estuve con una distro tanto tiempo sin reinstalar.
Impresionante la estabilidad del sistema. En todo. Pero la estabilidad tiene un precio, no todo es la última versión.

in debian 13, pipewire is the default audio subsystem. if you upgrade from debian 12 it will not automatically install pipewire. this can be a problem, as openal-soft expects to use pipewire and will show some very unintuitive errors that say something like "pw.conf: can't load config client.conf: no such file or directory"
the fix is to install the pipewire-audio package, which will replace pulseaudio
because of (a) possible compatibility issues with Linux (for the Epson v39) and (b) unavailability of some scanner models (the Canon LiDE 400 wasn't), I ended up purchasing the Canon CanoSense LiDE 300 for ₱3,950 (US$67.31) which is not a bad deal. after some testing, it is working fine under #Debian12.
