Seit vielen Jahren gibt es die ARD/ZDF-Onlinestudie, die nun Medienstudie heißt. Ich habe mir die Studie 2025 mal im Hinblick auf soziale Medien angeschaut mit besonderem Fokus auf das #Fediverse. Erhoben wird dabei allerdings nur der Dienst #Mastodon. Wir schauen uns näher an, wer es wie nutzt!

Kurz noch vorab zur Studie selbst: die Grundgesamtheit ist die deutschsprechende Wohnbevölkerung ab 14 Jahren in Deutschland, Feldzeit war im Frühjahr 2025, n= 2.512, Dual Frame-Stichprobe (d.h. es wurde per Telefon und Online befragt).

Was ist der Digital Independence Day?
Der #DiDay ist eine gemeinsame Initiative vieler Organisationen, Verbände und Institutionen, die von Save Social - Networks For Democracy in Hamburg koordiniert wird. Die Initiative wurde beim letzten Congress von Mark-Uwe Kling (der mit dem Känguru) und Linus Neumann (der vom CCC) angekündigt.
Aktuell wird der DI.DAY von 44 Organisationen unterstützt. Darunter findet man fast alle, die in der Freien Software Szene eine Rolle spielen, wie z. B.: dem CCC, Wikimedia, Mastodon, Ecosia, Nextcloud, der Open Search Foundation, Digitalcourage, dem SUMA e.V., der Digitalen Gesellschaft, Tuta und viele andere.

Fänd es ja cool, wenn #Mastodon einen Scheduler für Beiträge hätte, so wie #friendica.

Ich gehe immer den Umweg über Tusky. Finde das aber ein ziemliches gefummel, da ich noch aus einer Generation komme, als mit den Händen gearbeitet wurde und die Pranken einfach zu groß sind für so ein friemeliges Smartphonedisplay. Das geht am PC einfach geschmeidiger.

Spain, France and the UK are considering following Australia in banning under-16s from using "social media". To put it differently, it means all social media users are required to prove their identity and age.

How do they define "social media"? All discussion I have seen so far has been really vague, and basically assumed that American tech giants and social media are the same thing.

Depending on their definition, this onerous requirement could destroy the Fediverse.

How has this affected Australian users and Fedi instances so far?
