@thiccpaws Puh… Did you upgrade to Tahoe? I think that’s yet still not supported by #OCLP. Or am I wrong? My old MacBook Air suggested to me that I upgrade recently. Thank god I didn’t.

To my #macos bubble: I am running current macOS on my 2013 iMac using #oclp. I have a problem in that iCloud drive seems not be syncing. Just stays at 0kB and no network traffic. I restarted bird, but didn't help. Any other ideas?
EDIT: as if by magic, the Mac started syncing again. Who knows why it sometimes does this...
@kramercanfield Its a matter of optimization, #Apple could have a Long Term Release of #macOS which focuses performance instead of features for instance. If #OCLP can get Sequoia running on Macs from 2008 with no input from Apple I don't see whats preventing them from doing the same. But Apple is a business and its survival depends a lot on repeat upgraders especially since many keep their hardware for long. Its just sad seeing well designed hardware end up Ewaste.

With no room left in the #Atmos studio, my bedroom is now the guitar practice/recording space.
My old mid-2009 MacBook Pro still serves faithfully, running the Axe-FX III editor, and recording tracks which I then network to the Atmos room.
I just used #OCLP to upgrade it to Monterey … that’s six OS revisions beyond El Capitan, which Apple declared end-of-life. Yay!
They’ve also declared EOL to #Firewire 800 … my old cable is a bit loose, so it’s time to get my baby a new one.

#linux wird gerade bei mir an allen Ecken und Enden ein Thema. Nicht, weil ich nicht mit meinen Apple-Geräten zufrieden wäre - ganz im Gegenteil.
Aber für meinen alten #iMac (Mitte 2011, i5 2,7GHz, 24 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD6770M 512MB, 1TB), denn #OCLP ist schon auf HighSierra und extrem lahm.

- #icloud (liefe über Snap)
- irgendein Office (ich gebe zu, dass ich mit #LibreOffice hadere)

Looks like my #OCLP MacBook Pro has decided to randomly (possibly on sleep) stop talking mDNS to the rest of the network.
Not generally an issue unless I want to do something like print, or do an ESP32 OTA update, but I suspect it's enough of a push to get me to look at a new laptop 💻
This one has done well though, 12 years old and otherwise still going strong 🙂
Tip to any #blind users of #VoiceOver. I don't know if this is just common now, or a side effect of #OCLP, but when trying to boot into recovery mode my speakers didn't work. A set of headphones did, though.
Now I'm creating an install of MacOS 15.3 because I clearly don't learn from my mistakes.
Nine months ago I installed an update which made it impossible for me to boot into my MacBook Air that had Open Legacy Patcher running so I could continue receiving software updates. I tried fixing it for about a week and then literally put it in a box, assuming it was a lost cause.

I am also running an Apple machine right now from 2015 to reply to you. It was stuck on Catalina. I switched to Linux, though it too can run the latest macOS if you use #OCLP.
It is not obsolete yet, despite what Apple thinks. It runs great. I did replace the battery (which is a job and a half, lots of screws and it was also glued in place) but it now gets around 7 hours of battery life again. I also replaced the charger (it had a cable chewed up by my cat) with a USB-C to Magsafe 2 cable that have it pluged into a cheap 65W USB-C PD charger.
We really need to cut back on #eWaste. Apple, a $3.59 trillion company with massive profits, could do a hell of a lot more here. If they supported them longer I am convinced that people would keep using their old machines or pass/sell them on to someone who might. There is a lot to one of these laptops and they sell millions. It would make a difference. In addition, things like the battery should also be easier to replace and more standardised.
