There is an ethereal ring around the (almost) full moon tonight. It is absolutely wonderful. 😊🌚

Happy Sunday and the 11th day of Christmas to you all. 😊

One of the many sheer delights of #YnysMôn is the joy of seeing badgers, if we are lucky.

This, believe it or not is an 'action shot' of the lesser known sprinting badger... 😊

I really hadn't realised that they can move so quickly.

A very fast badger.

One of the joys of being on #YnysMôn is being able to visit our favourite places and notice some rarities.

Take this diminutive daffodil. Looks rather cute and is probably one of the most valuable tiny plants.

The proper name is Narcissus asturiensis 'Cedric Morris' and it was found (many years ago by said Mr Morris) growing on the side of the road somewhere in Spain.

Seemingly hardy but it can be a little tricky to get to flower in some places.

Flowers from November to February.

Narcissus asturiensis Cedric Morris. A single bulb will cost you between £25 and £35. I know of 4 nurseries that now stock it. Cute but expensive.

My wife and I went on a cemetery ship graffiti hunt. Good job, as I somehow missed this spectacular example in southern Anglesey!

A sailing boat cut into a tombstone on Anglesey. Traced artwork of the ship graffiti, better revealing its complexity.

Many and various mysterious objects have been found on #YnysMôn and this is one of the best.

Discovered hidden in a wall not far from the village of Menai Bridge, this stone carved figurine was once venerated by a local family druidic tradition as a kind of genius loci or spirit of the place.

The same tradition celebrated the 6th night of the new moon and would focus rituals around the statue.

Sadly, the family died out, hence the decision to hide it in the garden wall.

Now at Oriel Món.

Farewell #YnysMôn.
It has been so nice to spend a few days on our favourite island.

♥️

Greetings from an incredibly windy #Caergybi.

We are staying with friends tonight before spending the rest of the week on #YnysMôn.

I have already made friends with an enormous brown and white horse called Celt. 😄

We are looking forward to the time away from work, at least for a while.

😊

Approaching #Ynysmon, and a lighthouse is visible in the distance in the 2nd picture, with some interesting exposed cliffs rearing up from the sea. The first picture of the Snowdon range covered in snow takes me back to my first ever serious winter walk as a student, the complete Snowdon / Eryri horseshoe, with no crampons or ice axe at the time, and leather boots which froze up. To say I was a little bit concerned about falling to my death on Crib Goch would be an understatement, but the pseudo-invincibility of youth held the day.

Picture taken from a ship, looking out to land, with the head of a peninsula in the foreground and snow covered mountains of North Wales in the distance. The sea is green-grey, with the occasional white crest.Picture of a distant lighthouse at the base of a headland. The sunlight makes the white lighthouse stand out against its background. The sea has small white crests on wave tops.

"the moment #YnysMôn and the whole of #Wales has been waiting for".

No Eluned, the whole of Wales has not been waiting for this experimental shit to be dumped on our land, far far away from Westminster.

And no, it won't create an "abundance" of Ynys Môn jobs. They'll primarily be shipped in from elsewhere. Believe it or not, there are not many experimental nuclear scientists there. Shocking I know.
