Congress blows past POTUS in allocating 2026 funding for NASA.

The US Senate passed a "minibus" spending bill that allocates $24.4B to NASA for fiscal year 2026. It now goes to POTUS for signing. POTUS's budget proposal allocated just $18.8B to NASA, a 24% reduction from 2025 levels.

The US EPA ruled on Thursday that Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence company xAI had acted illegally by using dozens of methane gas turbines to power huge data centers in Tennessee.

Maduro has possible legal challenges – likely long shots – we will see at some point.

1) Head of State and Official Acts Immunity – provides that the current head of a foreign state may not be tried either criminally or civilly in a US court. The question = Maduro a “current head of a foreign state”.

2) Official Acts Immunity – Maduro may claim the accused illegal acts were official conduct and those cannot be prosecuted. Will the Courts accept the executive branch’s assertion that the activities are not “official” acts. The Supreme Court has yet to resolve this and have characterized it as “thorny” question.

3) Venue – Current law states that defendants from other countries must be tried “in the district in which the offender ... is arrested or first brought”. Before arriving in New York State, there was a stop in Guantanamo Bay. Maduro could argue he was not “first brought” to SDNY, therefore the case is null.

But under Trump and all his right-wing and far-right government leaders, any modest progress is being crushed with all possible force. Those who do not submit humbly lose their livelihoods and, in many cases, even their lives.

It seems to me that today we are once again lacking a dream! But all too often we also lack the courage and determination to turn that dream into a living reality.

But they do exist, these courageous people, young and old, women, men, LGBTQIA+, all over the world. And there need to be more of them; we need to step out of our comfort zones.
