Gartenrotschwänze gehören zu den Langstreckenziehern, die in Afrika, südlich der Sahara in der afrikanischen Savanne, überwintern. In Deutschland sind sie von April bis September zu beobachten. Der Wegzug verschiebt sich klimabedingt aber immer weiter nach hinten.

Der Gartenrotschwanz steht auf der Vorwarnliste. Früher waren sie häufig in Gärten zu sehen, da diese aber inzwischen gut aufgeräumt sind, bieten sie kaum Schutz und wenig Nahrung. Deshalb haben sich Gartenrotschwänze in Laub- und Mischwälder, aber auch auf Streuobstwiesen zurückgezogen. Seit einiger Zeit nimmt ihr Bestand glücklicherweise wieder zu.

Today we got out for a little birding with our driver. He's super into birds now and loves sharing the local species. Saw a bunch of stuff, but in terms of photos, this proud little Hodgson's Redstart stole the day. Just a charmer, and came close enough for the 500mm to get some action.

J'ai finalement réussi à faire une drinkstation chez moi -Je l'ai appelé l'abreu-voir parce que c'est un abreuvoir à oiseaux et petits animaux et où on peut les voir.
Je ne mets pas de photos de l'installation (et je ne fais pas de bilan) parce je vais probablement la remanier mais voici des photos d'un des premiers visiteurs.

An American redstart is a small warbler. Usually the males are very noticeable because of their black and orange coloring, but this one is a female. She has a grey head, yellow-orange epaulets and a yellow-orange wing bar. I have not heard any in my yard, though there are some in the general area. She got buzzed by the male house finches when she initially landed on the feeder, but persisted.

Putzen, kämmen, fluffen, aufflauschen, einfetten, bis auch die allerletzte Feder glänzt.

Ein Hausrotschwanz-Männchen putzt sich. Der Schnabel steckt unterm Flügel, daneben steht Flaum hoch.

Der #Hausrotschwanz auf dem Garagenblock singt wieder. Seine Kinder hab ich seit Tagen nicht gesehen. Anscheinend ist seine Brutsaison rum, das letzte Küken ist erwachsen, da kann man mal ganz entspannt trällern.

Я думал, что горихвостки-чернушки живут только под крышей моего дома, но всё оказалось иначе. Неподалёку от участка находится старый бесхозный сарай, и в нём поселилось ещё два семейства.

В общем, пока птенцы не стали на крыло, было там весело и шумно. Пение у них своеобразное, и его сложно с кем-то спутать. Мне вспомнился мой первый dial-up модем. Шипят, щёлкают, свистят...

По утрам и вечерам я за ними наблюдал. Делюсь с вами кадрами из жизни горихвосток-чернушек. Тут и мамаша кормит птенцов, и папаша, сидя на краю шиферины, потряхивает хвостом, охраняя свои владения, и пуховые шарики — голодные птенцы изучающие мир.

Как-то утром мне довелось наблюдать интересное зрелище. Когда мамаша прилетает с червяком покормить своих птенцов, вылетает воробей и пытается у горихвостки отобрать добычу. Поднимается шум и гам, мамаша бросается на защиту семьи. В общем, воробей отобрать червяка не смог.
