Yesterday, I was walking along the Aurajoki riverside in Turku when I noticed this magnificent old oak tree in the backyard of the Sibelius Museum and took a photo of it with my phone. The old oak is so highly valued that it’s protected by a fence. It’s a shame that, at the same time, numerous old trees are being felled in Finland's state forests without being given the recognition they deserve as magnificent organisms and cornerstones of biodiversity. All ancient forests around the world should be protected, while of course ensuring that the rights of indigenous peoples to their lands are respected.

A wide, flat grassy area with trees scattered in the middle distance and a slope of loose rock at the far end also with scattered trees. The nearer trees include one that has fallen over, but a branch grows up into an umbrella shape of conifer tree.

The flat of The Table comes to an end. Far below is the flat of the basin of the basin and range. Nearby are black rocks from volcanism.
