The beech marten is pretty skittish around the food bowl. I've seen evidence that he's been eating kibble but this is the first time I've actually seen him eat on camera.

A type of mushroom, very small, three orange columns, coming together at the top. Forms sort of a cage. There’s one little green clover next to it and green grass surrounding it.

Here’s a close-up of the orange cage stinkhorn mushroom with some fruit flies getting it on! They have red heads and are very very small.

Raptor rapture! Got a photo of a sharp-shinned #hawk (per the Merlin app) sitting in my plum tree. Not a great photo, but the hawk is focused on the neighbor's bird feeder.

This guy/gal may explain the feathers in and around the spruce tree in the front yard.

Messier 103 (NGC 581) ist ein offener Sternhaufen im Sternbild Kassiopeia und bereits in kleinen Ferngläsern sichtbar. Seine scheinbare Größe liegt bei 6 Bogenminuten, der wahre Durchmesser beträgt etwa 15 Lichtjahre (Entfernung 8500 Lichtjahre). Der hellste und auffälligste Stern im Bereich von M 103 ist Struve 131, er gehört aber nur aus der Perspektive des Beobachters zum Sternhaufen. Der hellste Stern des Haufens selbst ist ein Roter Riese, der durch seine rötlich-orange Farbe auffällt (SAO 11826, Spektralklasse K7Ib). Nach neuesten Zählungen enthält M 103 172 Sterne, sein Alter wird auf 25 Millionen Jahre geschätzt. Der Sternhaufen wurde im Jahr 1781 vom französischen Astronomen Pierre-François-André Méchain entdeckt und war das letzte Objekt im ursprünglich von Messier in drei Teilen veröffentlichten Messier-Katalog.

A squirrel on a bird feeder looks in my general direction as I take its picture. The squirrel is, I think, an Utah Fox Squirrel, so it is cream with reddish brown tints. It is bigger than the usual grey squirrel. Above, in the tree, is a Mourning Dove. It is also watching the squirrel. The tree is a rather old Globe Willow, in the last years of its life.

Rima Hadley, Apollo 15
Der südöstliche Rand des Mare Imbriums (Regenmeer) wird von den Mond-Apenninen begrenzt, deren höchte Gipfel mit bis zu 4600 Metern die zentral gelegenen Mons Hadley bilden. Am Fuß von Mons Hadley Delta, im Palus Putredinis („Sumpf der Fäulnis“), landeten am 30. Juli 1971 die Astronauten der Apollo-15 Mission mit ihrer Landefähre Falcon in unmittelbarer Nähe der Rima Hadley. Die etwa 1,5 km breite und bis zu 270 m tiefe Rille schlängelt sich von ihrem Ursprung südlich des Kraters Hadley an diesem vorbei Richtung Norden bis zu den Rimae Fresnel. Von der Landestelle gibt es beeindruckende Aufnahmen der Astronauten entlang der Rima Hadley und dem Berg Mons Hadley Delta im Hintergund:
