He eliminado mis cuentas de un montón de lugares: #facebook, #twitter / #x, todavía no termino de irme de #google para ya hay otros servicios que estoy utilizando.
Ahora con #instagram tengo el dilema que sigo a gente muy copada, muy buena que trata de usarla como herramienta de difusión y demás, una contra frente al uso nefasto de las red social.
Saliendo del debate de si es en vano o no que hagan eso, de si es óptimo o no, lo cierto es que sí me interesa seguir a esas personas y la solución que he encontrado es usar Instagram desde el navegador con todos los blockers que conozco y demás. Pero ahora estaba considerando la alternativa de #insular y ese segundo espacio que dice aislar a las «redes del gran hermano».
¿Qué opinan? ¿Alguien usa #insular o algo similar? ¿Serviría para mantener a raya, aunque sea un poco, a la app de Instagram o me sigo quedando con el navegador reforzado en muchos blockers y demás? Sé que no hay soluciones infalibles más allá de cerrar cuenta y abandonar la red pero al menos por ahora me gustaría saber qué creen al respecto.

Geomatrach
Geomatrach started as lockdown doodles, as I decided to draw Insular script on an octagonal grid. Much dinking later, we have this oddball, kinda science fictional, typeface in two weights.
I did this for fun, but the typeface includes support for virtually every language which can be written in Latin script. The letters are modern in style. If you’d like to see something closer to my original scribbles, you can select Stylistic Set 01 (Insular), and this will give you the “Celtic” forms.

Fìgheadh
Pronounced “fee-yugh’, the name is a Scottish Gaelic noun meaning ‘weaving’.
This is an OpenType version, because Adobe don’t support Type1 any more. If you have the old TrueType version, it should still work. This version contains a couple of bugfixes. As I’m working on a new version, uppercase ASD and FGH are a preview of that.

Bugs and other inconvenient features.
I am in Scotland. This typeface was set up using a British keyboard. Shift-3 gives me £. On US keyboards, you have to type option-3 to get this character, although I’ve been informed that shift-3 still gives the correct character. There are probably other differences—use the table to check.
Please let me know if you get this, or any similar, problem.
The display bug which caused an unwanted line to appear in the white-on-black characters has now been fixed. Honest.

Darach is Gaelic for “Oak”
The character set includes support for virtually every language which can be written in Latin script. The letters are mostly Insular in style. If you prefer, you can select Stylistic Set 01 (Not Insular), and this will give you more modern Latin forms of B, D, G, d, and g.
Maybe you’d prefer a totally Insular look? If you are using an application that allows you to set your language to Traditional Irish, then it should work automagically through the power of OpenType language support. I can’t test this myself. But, Stylistic Set 02 (All-Insular) has you covered for the otherwise modern R, S, r and s:
There is also a set of initial capital letters. If you like the spirals from Dearmach, turn this on! The PDF in the download provides help on accessing the features in Affinity Publisher and Adobe InDesign.

This is an #INSULAR manuscript, which means it was written in Germany but has associations with the British Isles. So the flourish on the final s may actually come from a similar Northumbrian practice. See for example the Salaberga Psalter, in which many final letters have beautiful formal flourishes. This is one of the many questions our project will be investigating! #palaeography

Taisean is an original typeface inspired by the idea “what if scribes had technical pens?” The forms are based on half-uncials, but the strokes appear to be of constant width. The name is Gaelic for “skeleton” or more generally “remains of the dead”.
The character set includes support for virtually every language which can be written in Latin script, plus a basic set of Greek glyphs. Version 3.0 adds a load more characters, and a bold weight.

With the Android APP #Insular you can define a "workprofile" for your phone, which can be fully deactivated. This is useful for apps you want to fully shutdown, when you dont use them. In that way, they cant collect your Data in background. Like #Whatsapp, #Instagram or your Banking Software. Personally i have one profile for that Kind of Apps, which i can deactivate, and one for #OpenSource Apps.
