This story, by Pooja Salhotra and Jazmine Ulloa, has multiple examples of:
- person with legal status going about their business gets kidnapped off the streets by ICE in Minnesota
- ICE has no interest in IDs proving legal status, and ships the person off to a detention center in El Paso, Texas
- days or weeks later, that person is released from the detention center onto the streets of El Paso with no money and has to figure out their own way home to Minnesota.

In one case ICE never returned the identification and immigration documents they took.

President Trump late Thursday night shared a video that contained a brief clip portraying former President Barack Obama and the former first lady Michelle Obama as apes.
The clip, set to "The Lion Sleeps Tonight," was spliced near the end of a 62-second video that promoted conspiracy theories about anomalies in the 2020 presidential election.
The clip appeared to have been taken from a video that was shared in October by a user on X whose watermark is shown, with the caption "President Trump: King of the Jungle," and an emoji of a lion.
In that video, several high-profile Democrats
— including former U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Mayor Zohran Mamdani of New York, former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and former vice president Kamala Harris - were shown as zebras, girattes and other animals, while Mr.
Trump was depicted as a lion. The Obamas, in the clip, were shown as apes. The video ended with the animals bowing down to Mr.
Trump.

I do not like having to share Andrew Coyne's columns but this is such a clear-eyed assessment of where Canada stands in many ways. We, including our federal government, have to shake off our normalcy bias, which makes us uniquely vulnerable among countries. #GiftLink 🎁 #CdnPoli

#Canada - Ottawa says it won’t allow Chinese EVs to be used for spying on Canadians

> The federal government will take steps to ensure that imported Chinese electrical vehicles cannot be used to spy on Canadians, a parliamentary committee heard Thursday.

> Testifying before the procedures and House affairs committee, Public Safety Minister Gary Anandasangaree said Ottawa will put safeguards in place to make sure that Chinese EVs do not have “the capability to transmit information” back home.

> He was responding to questions from Bloc Québécois MP Christine Normandin, who raised c> >oncerns that Chinese EVs could become “little spies on the road that could record our calls and take pictures of where we are going.”

> During last month’s official mission to Beijing, Prime Minister Mark Carney signed an initial trade agreement that slashed tariffs on electric vehicles in exchange for Beijing lowering tariffs on Canadian canola and other products.

Rarely in the history of this country has a major project gone so wrong for so long with such devastating consequences. As laid out in an investigation by the Star’s Andy Takagi and David Rider published last week, the Crosstown has been an orgy of buck-passing, blame-shifting, money-blowing incompetence that has somehow managed to stagger on, unfinished for more than 15 years.

Every level of government, public agency and private company involved deserves some of the blame. As Takagi and Rider make clear, the entire $13 billion project was badly conceived, poorly designed, wretchedly tendered and incompetently executed.

- the Washington Post runs a story about an Afghan national who worked for a US NGO and who fled when the Taliban took over. He applied for asylum in the US and was granted a temporary status while his application was in process. DHS summarily revoked that status and initiated deportation proceedings. He was fighting the deportation, arguing that the Taliban would kill him for helping the US if he were sent back.
- a US citizen, a recently retired insurance industry worker, reads the Washington Post article and sends a polite email to the prosecutor, urging him to reconsider the deportation move.
- five hours later the US citizen gets a notification from Google that his personal information has been subpoenaed by DHS. It notes that this can be challenged in court, but contains no information on how one might do that. For example there is no copy of the subpoena itself, or a way to get a copy.
- several days later two federal agents from DHS show up on his doorstep to interview him about his email.

Yikes: Longevity Influencer #PeterAttia all over Epstein files 😱

- Called huckster💰by #EricTopol

- Ignored his infant kid in ICU to be with Epstein 😬

- 1700+ emails, some quite lewd 👹

- Long ‘I’m a victim’apology’🤮

“In 2017, Attia appears to have spent time with Epstein in New York, rebuffing his wife’s pleas for him to return home to California, while his infant son was having a medical emergency 😳

In the emails, Attia is not just Epstein’s medical adviser but a friend and ardent admirer.

In 2016, #Attia wrote to #Epstein’s assistant that he goes “into JE withdrawal when I don’t see him.”

Text Shot: If you didn’t know who Peter Attia was last week, here’s how you’ll remember him going forward: Attia is the guy who once emailed Jeffrey Epstein to confirm that “pussy is, indeed, low carb. Still awaiting results on gluten content, though.”

Until recently, Attia was known as a wellness influencer in the manosphere and a newly appointed contributor at CBS as part of the “Free Press to network TV” pipeline. He has a popular podcast and wrote the best-selling book Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity. But Attia is also all over the Epstein files—his name pops up more than 1,700 times in the Justice Department’s latest batch of documents.

A cloak-and-dagger mystery reminiscent of a John le Carré novel is swirling around the complaint, which is said to be locked in a safe. Disclosure of its contents could cause “grave damage to national security,” one official said. It also implicates another federal agency beyond Gabbard’s, and raises potential claims of executive privilege that may involve the White House, officials said

Jenn Engels, parent council co-chair, said families are feeling “pretty disgusted” over what has unfolded, and believe the board is “retaliating against teachers,” taking them away from students who have already had “so many disruptions this year.”

“I think it’s really about optics. The school administration mishandled the rollout of a major change and, in doing so, didn’t follow the board’s own policies or provincial policies,” she said, adding parents were given misleading, incomplete and inconsistent information.

Canada should keep options open on acquiring nuclear weapons, former top soldier says

The currency of the modern internet is attention, with more eyeballs translating into more shares, a bigger boost from the algorithm and ultimately, more influence or money from ads.

By capitalizing on major news events and the authoritative aura of people like Cooper and Buffett, these videos seem designed to grab viewers and keep them scrolling. Whether viewers believe them or are outraged by the egregious AI use ultimately doesn’t matter.
