@evgandr @contaminase nust not have made my point well. It is not about restricting developers but for mission critical applications, those relying on it should hold the data. We are currently in a position where one outage can kill a large percentage of the Internet. Imagine AWS, OneDrive, Cloudfare and Github disappeared or were externally geoblocked, much of the world would stop. Having a local OS with the repos stored on native infra reduces one risk. Having people develop it, update it, expand it is obviously good and there is the usual caution of how do you trust anyone is a normal thing. Not siggestinf there needs to be a EuroBSD/Linix or Asian or Arctic one, just with the way the world is, if we rely on a thing especially mission critical things, a different approach is required and #datasovereignty should apply to this too. Else, why both at all?
