@evgandr @contaminase nust not have made my point well. It is not about restricting developers but for mission critical applications, those relying on it should hold the data. We are currently in a position where one outage can kill a large percentage of the Internet. Imagine AWS, OneDrive, Cloudfare and Github disappeared or were externally geoblocked, much of the world would stop. Having a local OS with the repos stored on native infra reduces one risk. Having people develop it, update it, expand it is obviously good and there is the usual caution of how do you trust anyone is a normal thing. Not siggestinf there needs to be a EuroBSD/Linix or Asian or Arctic one, just with the way the world is, if we rely on a thing especially mission critical things, a different approach is required and #datasovereignty should apply to this too. Else, why both at all?

When a service is free, the incentives aren’t neutral.

Email data is increasingly used to train AI systems — often without meaningful user control or transparency.

Self-hosted alternatives exist for a reason:
ownership, privacy, and long-term control over your data.

Your “free” email isn’t free.
Many providers use message data to train AI — often with limited user control.

Self-hosting changes the model:
You own the data. You set the rules.

If we don't support privacy-respecting alternatives, surveillance capitalism becomes the only option. Supporting Mautic means supporting infrastructure that makes different choices possible.

Most marketing automation platforms are built on surveillance. Track everything, own your data, lock you in, charge more as you grow.

Mautic exists to work differently. Privacy-respecting, self-hostable, extensible. You control your data. Your users' privacy is protected, not exploited.

claims not to collect personal data due to the age verification. It realises that through ”trusted partners”. Here is an excerpt of the ToS of such a Discord partner.

So, maybe your personal data does not reach Discord. But it is lost nevertheless, and probably sold to the highest bidder.

@Lazarou
I had to go and check, it appears #Canada has been deep into #Palantir for quite a while. 🫤

What is Sovereign AI? 🇪🇺
Sovereign AI means running AI on your own infrastructure: your servers, your control. No dependency on US hyperscalers, no data leaving your borders.
For Europe, this matters because most companies send data to foreign clouds every time they use AI. That means GDPR risks, unpredictable costs, and zero control.
Sovereign AI changes this: you own the hardware, control the models, keep your data. It's AI on European terms.

Hi dear Mastodon users! We are happy to be on this platform! We are Xinity from Vienna, and we help European companies run AI infrastructure on their own terms.
If you're worried about data privacy, cloud costs, or GDPR compliance when using AI, we'd love to connect and share what we've learned about on-premise solutions.
Always happy to chat about sovereign AI, even if you're just exploring options!

Migrated my service architecture to a fully decoupled, headless SPA today. Replaced a legacy CMS with a Master Manifest (JSON) and a serverless intake via AWS Lambda. Sovereignty over data isn't just for clients; it’s for the practitioner too.

Currently researching the way Local Cloud Bots utilize cross-platform identifiers to coordinate communication blocks. In a decentralized space like Mastodon, we have a fighting chance to break that "reputation synchronization" that keeps people in digital silos.

If you aren't monitoring the way your data is being "handed off" between automated agents, you aren't actually using the internet—the internet is using you.

Disclaimer, I work for Catalyst-EU part of the Catalyst group. However one of the reasons I wanted to work for them was their commitment to Free Libre and Open Source software. This blog post explains their approach. I really don't like the graphic that has been used.

Build Your Own UNCENSORED AI Running Completely Offline
Privacy-conscious users are moving away from the cloud. We show you how to set up a powerful, uncensored LLM running locally on your own hardware. With no internet connection required, this is the ultimate way to maintain total data sovereignty while utilizing the power of modern AI.
