So I heard some good things about the Zed code editor, and decided to install it. However, the terms of use (https://zed.dev/terms) and privacy policy (https://zed.dev/privacy-policy) are giving me bad vibes from a project that claims to be 'open source' (https://zed.dev/blog/zed-is-now-open-source). I'm not a legal expert, so perhaps I'm misreading the TOS, but something seems off.

@Taffer I would really recommend to try #zedEditor instead. I will stay in #emacs for sure, but I tried Zed for Go debugging, works very quick and have pretty good defaults
Ok, I'm probably late to the party, but it went completely over my head it seems.
#JetBrains #fleet is no longer maintained: https://blog.jetbrains.com/fleet/2025/12/the-future-of-fleet/
I've been using it as I'm more familiar with the JetBrains SW products, but I guess it is time to switch.
Maybe #zededitor from @zed ?
@ctietze I've had the same experience. In the large project I work on, #Xcode rename fails more often than not, while LSP rename (in #ZedEditor) works and is very fast.
If you're building iOS and Mac apps in Zed, you can still have reasonably usable UI previews, after a fashion. Here's a new article about that.
(Hint: it's a Mac, not a phone, and you're allowed multiple apps on-screen!)
I really love #zedEditor for most of my work. I use it for programming and to update markdown work journals. Remote folders are great. However, I ran into an annoying default setting today. Default keymaps for the project pane allow you to delete a file with just a `shift-D`. There is a `"skip_prompt":false"` argument set so it should prompt before deleting. Either it didn't or I accidentally dismissed it. Lost 6 hours of work. Deleted those keymaps.

#Swift #iOS development in #ZedEditor is really getting good with the help of xcede by @lxmn. Build, run, test, debug. It's all supported. I'm so grateful to Adrian for putting in the work to make this happen.

Update on my switch to #zededitor as my main editor as about a month ago: still loving it. Minor issues here and there, but very fast, productive, slick. Don’t miss anything from VS Code.
I really wanted to try Zed and its AI features but this looks terrible 😬
My changes submitted to #Zed's #Swift plugin to support runnable tests are now part of the plugin (as of v0.4.4), so if you've been using a customised version to run your tests, you don't need to worry about that any more.
(What's this all about? https://luxmentis.org/blog/test-xcode-apps-in-zed/ #ZedEditor #iosdev #macdev #swiftdev )
Safe to say, dass der Zed Editor am Raspberry Pi nicht funktioniert.
yes!, but...
#ZedEditor
#Zed can now run #Swift tests – for iOS and Mac apps and for Swift packages.
I've just published some updates so that not only can you build, run and debug your iOS and Mac apps in Zed, you can now run your tests too. You get those nice little run icons in your test code, just like in #Xcode.
Here's how: https://luxmentis.org/blog/test-xcode-apps-in-zed/
Zed is now available on Windows. With WSL support. That's nice. I'll give it a try.
#ZedEditor の #Windows 版が正式リリースされたみたい :tony_laughing: 🎉
