Der #TotalCommander ist ja auch so ein Stück unaufgeregte Software die einfach über Jahre hinweg ansatzlos funktioniert. Ohne Abo-Modell mit regelmäßigen Updates. Ich mag das sehr!

So I took 3 minutes to google and solved one of my biggest annoyances with Total Commander. If I can find a way to add bookmarks.

Hold on. I just tried something… this is big. If I understand this, then it might be _super_ effective. I think I just hit feature complete on what I want bare minimum. It's a little ugly but it works and it's fast. Next year I'm digging into the real stuff and who knows.

Now I just need to clone my boot drive successfully.

I thought it might be malware somehow on my Pixel 9 but force stopping the browsers and watching the file system via #TotalCommander showed the files stayed until I opened the browser again and waited a few minutes. It takes a few minutes for the files to disappear so it'd take me another hour to narrow down the exact cause. For now I'll just move files to another subdirectory as soon as I get them before the digital ninja maid clears my desk.

Ich nutze den #Totalcommander täglich (Android und Windows) und besitze eine Lizenz schon so lange, wie ich mit der Frau verheiratet bin (voriges Jahrtausend). Seitdem immer kostenlose Updates.
Wahnsinn, wie lange gute #Software von stabilen Kleinstunternehmen sauber weiterentwickelt werden kann.
Leider noch keine wirklich überzeugende Alternative für Linux gefunden.

I was bored, so #LineageOS happened. Which forced… gave me the opportunity to rethink some apps. A couple of highlights.

I returned to #GhostCommander, which wasn’t working well with older Androids (remember the Great SD Card Disaster?). It looks and behaves like an open-source version of #TotalCommander. If you don’t need SMB 1 support like I do, you should probably check out #MaterialFiles instead, It looks better.

Just tried downloading #TotalCommander from aptoide.
The displayed version 9999.9999.999.999 gave a loop of advertising pop-ups.
From "apps" store.

No longer confident wtf aptoide screens apps for.

I wouldn't use apps downloaded from aptoide on any device with my banking details on it.

(Other version are to be found behind the "Other versions" button.)

EDIT: Rechecked, date on that version has changed to 2025.
Confidence now zero.

Mit #totalcommander und "#tolalcmd-wlan-transfer" auf beiden Geräten (!) ist der Dateitransfer recht problemlos zu bewerkstelligen. Damit bleibt alles im heimischen WLan-Netz

Ich habe jetzt im ersten Schritt meine Daten bei #Amazon angefordert. Sobald ich diese habe, werde ich meinen Account nach 22 (!!) Jahren löschen. Außerdem überlege ich, wie ich #Adobe #Lightroom unter #Linux verwenden kann, wenn ich auf #Microsoft #Windows verzichte. Vlt wechsel ich auch zu #Darktable oder #RawTherapee.
Schade wäre es um den #TotalCommander, den es nur unter Windows und #Android gibt.

Nemůžu si pomoct, ale příjde mi, že starší software resp. software navržený v dobách dřívějších je minimálně na Windows prostě efektivnější.

Na služební notebook s relativně čerstvou instalací Windows 11 už jsem si stihnul stáhnout XnView, protože defaultní "Fotky" se prostě nedaly. Dlouho startují a navíc nic neumí...

Dneska jsem si pro změnu stáhnul třeba takový DoubleCommander.

@Jon6705 You may also find an application like #TotalCommander is helpful in this process.

TC can be set both to preserve file and directory timestamps on copy and to verify file hashes to confirm integrity of the copy in progress. Afterward, you can also run a recursive compare of the #backup and destination directories if you want to be doubly sure.
