@mandrasch Ich denke digitale Souveränität kann nicht bedeuten, dass jeder ein NAS mit Nextcloud zu Hause hat. Das ist nicht resourcenschonenend und schwer abzusichern.

Scchau dir @netcup an. Ich empfehle eine ARM VM mit #Nextcloud AIO mit #Borgbackup zu #Hertzner #StorageBox.

Wenn du dich gut auskennst, nimm als OS #CoreOS und #Podman Quadlets for Nextcloud.

Statt 1TB #S3 Speicher bei #Hetzner für ~6€/Monat zu mieten vielleicht 1TB #StorageBox für ~4€/Monat bei Hetzner mieten, via SMB in einen Server mounten und per Garage oder so als S3 bereitstellen?

Ich meine wie schlimm kann das werden?

NextCloud on Hetzner is the OneDrive upgrade I didn’t know I wanted

For years, I relied on Microsoft’s OneDrive — not for the Office 365 suite, but for its 1TB of cloud storage. It served me well for offsite backups and seamless syncing between my computers and phone. I even used the Personal Vault feature, though more out of curiosity than necessity. Later, I joined a friend’s family plan, making it even more cost-effective.

Kann mir jemand ein gutes Backup-Tool für #Windows empfehlen?
Aktuell nutze ich den #Veeam Agent und sichere auf ein Netzwerklaufwerk auf einer #Hetzner #Storagebox.
#Veeam möchte allerdings regelmäßig ein Komplett-Backup anlegen, was häufig fehlschlägt, weil der Rechner nur ein paar Stunden eingeschaltet ist.

Ich suche etwas Moderneres – idealerweise ein Tool wie #Borg oder #Restic, aber mit einer GUI für Windows.

I haven't done this in a while so today I sorted and counted my precious RC2014 modules. Noticed the socket for the crystal on the dual-clock module broke off, so I will need to fix this sometime.

The sixteen (16) modules seen here are the ones I don't use often, some of them being "duplicate" or backup parts.

I use empty "Ferrero Rocher" gift boxes to store those modules. Of course, I had to take over the burdening task of efficiently emptying those boxes from their original content ... 🍫

There are also another nineteen (19) modules being used by my Zed Pro setup and the machine that runs RC-BOX BBS.

So today's total count of modules (in use or in store) sums up to 35. Yes. I'm a little mad ... (or maybe a fanboi?!) ...

EDIT: actually, it's 36 - I forgot to count in the OLED module I once bought from @quazarsamcoupe

Nutzt jemand eine Storage Box bei Hetzner?

Wie kriege ich bei einem Sub-Account das "Externally Reachable" aktiviert?

Für den Master Account konnte ich das setzen, für den Sub-Account finde ich da keine Einstellung.

Ohne den externen Zugang machen Sub-Accounts ja keinen Sinn, daher vermute ich, dass der Fehler bei mir liegt.

Ich habe mir eine #LincStation N1 als Server für daheim besorgt. 😜

Das enthaltene #Unraid habe ich mir gar nicht erst angeschaut, stattdessen habe ich #Debian 13 auf der internen eMMC installiert.

Zwei SSDs mit je 1 TB hatte ich noch, die jetzt ihren Dienst als gespiegelte Platten unter #ZFS versehen.

Den ersten Tag habe ich damit verbracht einen Dämon für die Status-LEDs zu erstellen. Dafür alles mögliche im Internet gesucht und selbst reverse-engineered. Der tut jetzt schon seinen Dienst. Per default würden alle LEDs blinken 🤢 … und natürlich liefert LincPlus keinen Sourcecode. 😠

TODOs

- Nach und nach die Dienste auf meinem VPS im Netz auf die Box ziehen.
- Backup Strategien mit ZFS Snapshots erstellen. Evtl. zusammen mit einer 1 TB #StorageBox von Hetzner.
- Meine #Nextcloud-Daten (#StorageShare) auf eine eigene Nextcloud transferieren.
- Evtl. für Fotos einen eigenen Immich Server.

Also einiges zu tun, jetzt muss es nur noch regnen, damit ich nicht lieber nach draußen will.

@rameez I'm currently noticing similar performance problems with #borg backups on the #Hetzner #StorageBox.

While a 'borg info' against the #BorgBase server is blazing fast, it takes a very, very long time with Hetzner.

But okay, if you know about it, you can prepare for it. And these are unattended backups via cron, where a minute or ten doesn't matter.

With Hetzner, I know that the servers are located in the EU and it's not AWS or Azure as the backend. 👍🏼

One big plus for the #hetzner cloud is that you can install you vm from an #Debian ISO so you can #LUKS #encrypt the disk with your own keys.

First comes the new bastion host, then a fresh #Mastodon instance and 2 #DNS Servers will follow.

And their #StorageBox allows for #Borg and #Restic backups.

Hat von Euch jemand ein lokales #QNAP-#NAS via #rsync an eine #Hetzner #Storagebox synchronisiert? Würde das gerne als Backup machen. Im Moment läuft das mit #sftp. #rsync wollte nicht und #webdav geht nur mit #Deduplizierung über dieses #QNAP-Backup, dem ich nicht traue.
