My solution for syncing keepass between Linux and iPhone (works with KeePassDX on Android too) using Nextcloud:

My Linux computer is running Incus, and one container is my Nextcloud server.

I have created a folder ~/nextcloud where my keepass.kdbx is located.

KeePassXC is using this file directly and since it's a local file it's always accessible.

I have mounted ~/nextcloud inside the Incus Nextcloud container as /data.

In Nextcloud I have monuted /data as a folder for my Nextcloud user.

In KeePassium in iPhone I have set it up to use WebDAV to my Nextcloud server and then choosen the keepass.kdbx file.

(This way I can also easily share any file between Linux and iPhone)
(I know there are other ways to do this, but since I want to always have access to keepass.kdbx on Linux even if Nextcloud is not running this solution best fits my needs)

If you ask my sister, i am bullying her right now with a topic she's been ignoring for several years now, and i am very mean to do this _now_, when she needs my help because her phone broke, and all her chat history is gone.

If you ask me, a #passwordmanager is very important, very helpful in exactly this situation, and please, PLEASE start using one now?

So, our library is adopting a #PasswordManager. Not only for our own stuff, (though more and more of that is falling into our SSO,) but also for system or branch wide things so we don't need them written in drawers. This will also (hopefully,) end having to redo our passwords every 6 months. Between SSO and MFA, we're finally starting to modernize.

Maybe I'll be able to stop using Firefox Synch entirely!

I have my own password manager on my work computer that isn't web based for my own accounts, figuring that would be harder to get into than Firefox Synch. Still going to keep that.

They did say they'd also pay for personal accounts with the password manager company for us while we're employees. While a nice perk, the though of having to change or pay after I quit/retire sounds like a pain in the butt, and also, I don't know if this gives them any privilege into looking at my personal logins. That's why I went away from everything in FfS.

Some basic tips to get started:

1️⃣ Use a password manager 🔐

2️⃣ Make sure you're staying up to date on software updates, which have critical security patches you need to stay safe 💻

3️⃣ install an ad-blocking extension to block internet trackers in their... uh, tracks 😄 (4/5)

I was told that my idea already exists:

words.filippo.io/passage/

Same name, same approach by @filippo.

I should've done the research before developing an idea that already exists.

Well, it's too late, I've got the same thing, same name, but implemented in go. To be fair, my approach works with any hardware token that supports PKCS#11 and not only yubikey.

I'm using 1Password as my #PasswordManager - I really like their features, UI etc. Good product. Except - you know...

If possible I'd like to migrate to a non-US provider. Suggestions? Should be cloud based (Sorry, I'm not going to mess around with local #KeePass files) and free of ties to a US company, if possible not even AWS in the backend. Is there such a thing?

It's been a bit light on news over the last 24 hours, but we've got a couple of noteworthy updates: a failed nation-state attack on critical infrastructure and a new feature from a popular password manager to help combat phishing. Let's dive in:

Sandworm's Failed Wiper Attack on Poland's Energy Grid ⚠️

- The Russian state-sponsored group Sandworm (also known as APT44, UAC-0113, or Seashell Blizzard) has been linked to a failed cyberattack on Poland's energy infrastructure in late December 2025.
- The group attempted to deploy a new destructive data-wiping malware, dubbed DynoWiper (detected as Win32/KillFiles.NMO), targeting combined heat and power plants and renewable energy management systems.
- Polish officials confirmed the attacks were stopped, highlighting the ongoing threat from nation-state actors to critical infrastructure and the importance of robust defensive measures.

1Password Boosts Phishing Protection 🔒

- 1Password has rolled out new pop-up warnings for suspected phishing sites, aiming to prevent users from manually entering credentials on malicious or typosquatted domains.
- This feature adds an extra layer of defence beyond the existing URL matching, which prevents auto-filling, by explicitly alerting users who might otherwise overlook subtle domain discrepancies.
- Available automatically for individual and family plans, and configurable for enterprise admins, this update addresses the growing threat of sophisticated, AI-enhanced phishing scams.
