#Grafana has built-in compatible #Alertmanager, but I find the lack of #XMPP notifications disturbing...
For A/V calls, #XMPP itself does the signalling, while the payload is going either directly from device to device, or, if one or multiple clients are behind firewall/NAT, a TURN server is used.
Most public servers should do that. Check on https://compliance.conversations.im/ if XEP-0215 is supported by your server.

Btw. in case it is important to you: #Jabber/#XMPP uses #OMEMO encryption, which is practically the same crypto protocol as Signal has, incl. #forwardSecrecy.
But for Jabber, you don't need a phone number, you are not bound Android/iOS, and you don't need to use AWS.

I never tried Signal or Whatsapp, but I'm on free and federated #Jabber/#XMPP since 2014. I came late to the party — Jabber exists since 1999. At some point, Google chat federated with Jabber, but they stopped it, because #BigTech does bigtech things.
Bridges from Jabber to Whatsapp and Signal do exist, i.e. #slidge, but because WA and Signal are anti-federation, the bridge can only work, if one has an account on WA/Signal 😞
Anyway, all friends and family are on Jabber now.
@danish_akhtar7 This was (and is) the vision of #XMPP. XMPP developers have often debunked the anti-federation sentiments of Signal.
WhatsApp is largely based on XMPP, and federation with XMPP should be easy if WhatsApp were to allow it. (I don’t know what the state of DMA is.)
There are also WhatsApp-XMPP bridges.
But personally I ask people to install XMPP clients like Quicksy or Prāv, because fuck centralized (Signal) and proprietary (WhatsApp) platforms. (I’m not on WhatsApp, and never will be.) Each person who takes a principled stance makes a big difference.
We engage with decentralization protocols a lot (many nerds love to) but make no mistake: in the end, the app needs to work and be easy to use. #deltachat is a cross-platform FOSS offering, with guaranteed security levels, close to user expectations ... major factors in driving adoption!
True, the email system is not necessarily better than #xmpp ... but please compare with http://chatmail.at which is fast, ephemeral and secure, with delta inherently being a peer-to-peer E2EE messenger :)

What I love about #Conversations_im as a #UnifiedPush distributor—aside from #XMPP being a reliable, secure, and efficient protocol—is that it comes with a healthy dose of decentralization.
Sure, you can technically self-host a Sunup instance, but will you? XMPP already offers thousands of providers out of the box.

Did a test installation with MongooseIM. Testing with Monal. This doesn’t look good at all. I wonder what’s going on here, since some of the missing features are definitely there. Wrong version of the XEP implementations?
Now I wonder if it’d be worth spending time on this and work towards better compliance for MongooseIM.
Is there a community interest in having one more server option?
