Good morning tooters. It was 20c when I got up today, double what it was yesterday morning & today we’re supposed to get to 29c with rain to come, but as I well know that doesn’t always happen. Up, dressed & out of the door with the dogs by 6am again & it is a lovely morning today.
Home again & it involves getting breakfast for the dogs, then the cat & finally the chooks - then I can make my own, wholemeal crumpets with butter & Vegemite- yummy & which I’m now finishing along with a coffee.
I came across an apple tree while walking that was laden with red apple’s & leaning over the fence, so I picked one - I want one of these apple trees, delicious & a gorgeous pink inside. The garden it was in also had persimmons, quinces & an almond. There was probably more but I definitely focused on the apple.
I’m off for a shower & will then take another walk to catch up with my friend who lives not far away.
Wishing you all a wonderful #Sunday, have a happy day 🌻. #Weather #AussieSummer #Exercise #HouseSit #PetSit #Apple #Kangaroos

Good morning tooters. Quite a warm night here in Chiltern, but a very cool start to my day. I was awake early, not that I wanted to be but my body couldn’t agree with my brain. I managed to stay in bed until there was some light appearing in the sky just before 6am, then up & dressed, leads on the dogs & out of the door for a walk & it was a very cool 10c here. The sky may have been getting light, but the sun was nowhere near up. Even the rabbits weren’t out, did notice some plovers in the gloom of the park.
It was a lovely walk though & by the time I got near to Anderson park lake, which is nearly empty of water, I started to see rabbits & after going through the reserve there was a mob of kangaroos next to the local footy ground. By the time I was around 10mins from home the sun was finally starting to appear.
It’s going to get to a very hot 37c today & I have to go into town this afternoon for dinner out with the family. I was thinking of heading home to water the garden, but I think everything will be ok as I well watered yesterday morning & apparently rain is forecast tomorrow 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼.
Anyway I hope you all have a lovely restful #Saturday. Have a good one people & stay cool out there 🌻. #Weather #AussieSummer #Dawn #HouseSit #PetSit #Kangaroo

Predawn & a very sad looking Lake with only a small amount of grubby brown water left in it, the dry bed visible with trees framed against the pale yellow light of the sky.A lone grey kangaroo behind a mesh fence, standing on very dry grass & looking at me.
There’s a light pole & trees behind him.Near the end of my walk the sun finally starts to make its appearance through the trees in the park. There 4 cream post in front of a building to the off & a lush green tree to the right with some seating in the middle.

All settled in at my house sit. My food & the good coffee put away in the fridge for the few days I’m here. Dogs have suitably welcomed me & now one is outside sleeping & the other is inside sleeping. I have no idea where the cat is, but I’ll hear once he’s hungry. Chooks are bok boking in their run & it’s lovely & quiet. I feel really tired for some reason too.
I’ll be up early to take the dogs for their walk first thing tomorrow & I’m really looking forward to it. #HouseSit #PetSit

Good morning tooters. Getting a little warmer today, reaching 33c but at the moment it’s a lovely cool 13c. Still a little smoky outside as well but not as bad as yesterday. No walk for the doggos today, I’m packing up, cleaning up & getting ready to go home.
Doing the washing, having my breakfast, I need to vacuum & wipe surfaces down, put the rubbish out. I think I should be on my way home by about 9.30am 😊.
Despite the initial horrible heat & the bushfires & smokiness, I’ve enjoyed my few days here. It’s always wonderful going home again though.
Hope you all have a fantastic #Monday, keep safe out there, stay cool 🌻. #Weather #AussieSummer #HouseSit #PetSit

Good morning tooting friends. Awake super early again & out the door for a walk with the dogs before 6am & it’s smelly & little smoky out there affecting my eyes. It was 14c this morning, so way cooler than it has been. Supposed to get to 31c today which is ok by me - no hotter though please. Amazing sky first thing with the glow from the sun before it rose fully showing its colours on some streaky cloud.
I felt like my head was in swivel today, not only rabbits 🐇 , but I also spied a fox 🦊 & then on the other side of me I heard a lot of noise as somethings went bouncing through the bush it was three kangaroos 🦘 taking off, a bit further on & in the same direction I saw the fox was a whole mob of kangaroos 🦘 & they also took off. Heading back towards town & passing an old farmhouse & the front garden is full of Ibis & again, they take off, at least 30 of them. The dogs & I must have seemed like a threat this morning 🙃.
My legs feel like I’ve got shin splints as they’re a bit sore from all the walking lately. It will pass though. Today I’m heading to Rutherglen with a friend who tells me there’s a market on. I usually avoid markets nowadays, but decided some plants might be on offer!
Have a great #Sunday everyone, stay safe out there & stay cool 🌻. #Weather #HouseSit #PetSit #AussieSummer #MorningWalk #WildLife

G’day Fedi friends. It’s only 8.45am & it has just hit 31c - it’ll reach the max of 43c sooner than I’d like. All my jobs for the day are done. I got up at 5.30am & I was lovely & cool with the aircon on all night but it was already 24c outside so I threw on some clothes & got the dogs ready & off we went for a walk - only about 4km but I was sweating as we arrived home. The only other people out & about was the postie already on his rounds & the rubbish collectors. Smart time of day to do it, smart time of day to walk these dogs 🐕 🐕. That wasn’t all we saw though, new kerbside plantings by the council of the gorgeous Lacebark trees, I’d love one myself, but they grow huge. Heaps of rabbits around 🐇 & a number of Roos 🦘🦘
Gave the dogs their breakfast, put food out for the cat & grain for the chooks. Had a shower & am only just finishing my coffee now. The house is shut up & the aircon on. The rest of the day will be pretty laid back. Some yoga stretching, reading, watching the box, playing some games, online jigsaws - so really not much at all.
It’s going to be a doozy of a #Friday so if you have to go out take water with you & try to stay cool, take care 🌻. #Weather #AussieSummer #Heatwave #HouseSit #PetSit

In the foreground there’s a mound of dirt with holes dug unto it - rabbits!A block of land on the edge of a rural town. There’s an old gumtree at the very back & the block is fronted with a wooden & mesh fence there’s an Ibis standing on top of the fence & others in the block plus numerous rabbits pretending to be rocks as I walk by with the dogs.A town block close to where I’m staying. The corrugated fence at the back is rusting & in shades varying from a red to a white. Trees surround the block & the grass is dry with some rubbish near the back fence. There are also two grey kangaroos, a large one resting in the shade of the large bush to the right & the other closer to the back fence but also in the shade.

Good morning tooters. I went to bed with the aircon on as it was still way too hot 🥵 at 10pm. I was pretty restless as well & woke at 4am & drowsily went to check if it was any cooler & it was lovely. Turned the aircon off, opened up all the windows & the sliding glass door & went back to bed & totally zonked out until just before 6am when him next door woke me up banging doors 😏. Oh well, at least I slept. He left & I got up & it was a pleasant 20c. I’ve given the garden a good watering again & that’s all it will get for 48hrs. Should be ok I think (hope) but will be here early on Saturday morning to water again. Two days of 43c are going to be very unpleasant.
I think that while I’m in Chiltern I will take the dogs for their walk pre dawn & before breakfast, for me as much as them. Not much else will be going on while I’m there except for me time & some yoga routines.
Have a lovely #Thursday everyone, stay safe & stay cool & don’t forget to put water out for the wildlife 🌻. #Weather #AussieSummer #Heatwave #HouseSit #PetSit

2026-01-07

Blehhhh - it’s just passed the 40c mark.

I’ve never gone away anywhere when it’s so hot & tomorrow I’m in Chiltern for 4 days. Thinking how to leave my little unit & I think I’ll leave the windows open a little & all the blinds almost down. That’ll let some air in & out. I’ll water the garden thoroughly in the morning & come back in on Saturday morning to do it again & fingers crossed 🤞🏼 nothing shrivels & dies. #Garden #AussieSummer #Heatwave #HouseSit #PetSit.

Good morning tooting friends. A lovely 12c when I woke up & today it will reach 33c. Nit appealing to me, but it could be a lot worse & will be later next week.
I’m basically all packed up & cleaned up, ready to go home, one small bag to go in the car now. Just waiting for the washing to finish & to hang out & I’m done & can head away. I’ll actually be back in Chiltern on the 8th at my other regular sit, but just for 4 days.
My sister is apparently coming home from hospital today. I’ve been told she doing well but I will drop down & visit her to reassure myself & spend a bit of time. I might leave it until later in the day though as I’m also going to my daughters for a rare pizza night with them, my son & his family are coming in for it too - family night 😁. My sister lives half way between my daughters & my place. It just makes sense.
Happy #Friday people, the weekend is nearly here. Keep cool out there & have a great day 🌻. #Weather #HouseSit #PetSit #GoingHome #Family.

That naughty teeny tiny dog Ebby took off this morning as we were out walking, freaked me out. She’s so little she could hide behind a blade of grass & not be seen! George stayed by my side the whole time I searched for her.
A truck came down the road driven by a local I hadn’t met before. Tells me his name is Brownie, big (very) fella with a scar on his forehead. He knows Ebby & asks if I’ve searched his property & in we go, no she wasn’t there. Brownie gets in a little buggy & says he’ll check down the road one way & I go back the other way towards home. Very near home there she is coming out of the bush looking very pleased with herself. Panic over, heart rate decreases but that is my nightmare scenario of maybe having to tell an owner I’ve lost their much loved pet. I pick her up & tell her off then walk back down to tell Brownie & to thank him. George has stayed glued to my side all through it. He’s a good boy - Ebby not so much 😏 - she will be on a lead tomorrow morning for the last walk & won’t like it. #HouseSit #PetSit #CountryFolk #GoodPeople.

Good morning tooting friends & welcome to 2026 & hopefully it’s better than the year we’ve just had. It was a lovely cool & barely 10c when I got up a little before 6am. I’ll be showering shortly & taking the dogs for their morning walk before it starts to get warm, although it’s getting to 31c today, that is where I start to really feel the uncomfortable with heat.
Getting organised today to head home tomorrow morning, so jobs will need to be done today. It helps make tomorrow morning a lot smoother & easier. I want to get home as my sister was taken to hospital again yesterday & I’d like to go see how she is, although I will call her this evening.
I did make a new years resolution even though I didn’t see it in. I’ve been a bit slack with my eating patterns & habits, not doing what I know is best & works for me. So going to get myself back on track because when I eat right, I feel better, I manage better, I’m healthier & more capable & not sluggish. I haven’t been really bad but definitely feel the effects of not eating the way I normally & should do & I don’t like it.
Have a lovely first day of 2026 this #Thursday, keep cool, stay safe 🌻. #Weather #HouseSit #PetSit #GettingOrganised #HealthyEating #Family.

Can you see it? The dogs couldn’t - it’s a little blurry as I had to zoom in.
Not long home from my walk with the dogs, stuck another sealable bag in my pocket for more wild plums, will pick one more bag tomorrow. #HouseSit #PetSit #DogWalk #Rabbit

Good morning tooters. It was already 20c when I got up early this morning & it’s a little overcast but no rain forecast. Supposed to get to 33c today & I’m planning a quiet one. Had a dream filled disturbed sleep & woke up more than a few times. So I’m a little headachy this morning & already feel hot. A cool shower will be lovely & then I’ll take the dogs for a bit of a walk down the road & to the creek but that’s about it.
Just two more nights & I go home & I’m ready to get back to home life & doing my things going swimming etc. I hope to catch up with my other regular house sit family here in Chiltern tomorrow just to reconnect as while it’s not in my diary I remember them asking if I was free in Jan for a few days.
Hope you all have a fantastic #Wednesday & it’s not too hot where you are, stay cool out there 🌻. #Weather #LazyDay #HouseSit #PetSit.

Good morning Fedi friends. Glorious morning here & around 15c when I got up & took the dogs out for a quick run in the paddock. It’s currently nearly 20c but heading up to a hot 37c 🥵. So I need to get moving early.
Had a lovely dinner with the family last night in Wodonga, I had a seniors parmi with salad & it was plenty. My grandson loved his big metal V8 sign I got him. It wasn’t a late evening, I was home by about 8.30 & it was still only dusk. Saw a couple of Roos as I arrived back into Chiltern & so many rabbits were out & about, at least 10 outside of a property near here. So I let the dogs out & took them into the back paddock for a run before bed & called for them to find the rabbit because I could see 2. It was hilarious. George the bigger dog is literally bouncing like he’s on a trampoline around the paddock looking for these rabbits & couldn’t see them, little Ebby racing along behind. These rabbits are smarter than they are 😂. Good laugh before settling down for the night.
Off for a shower & heading into town again, I want to give my own garden a good watering & it will need it.
Have a great #Tuesday everyone, stay safe & stay cool, drink water 💦 😁🌻. #Weather #HouseSit #PetSit

I headed into Wodonga this morning to see my own place, water the garden etc. & picked a couple of tomatoes that aren’t quite ripe but will now do so on the window ledge. Tomatoes are the only thing I planted veg wise this year, because I absolutely love them & they have taken up a fair bit of my little veg patch. I do have Silverbeet in a pot elsewhere & that’s on its third year, probably won’t last much longer. Has a big root system - but I will just keep picking for a bit longer 😁.
I also took the dogs for a walk to the creek first thing which is as dry as a bone & very interesting. The dogs thought the smells were pretty awesome too. There was a wild plum tree that are found everywhere, in this part of Aussie at least & it was down the bank of the dry creek. A great spot to get extra water & they’re a decent size & very sweet. I did eat more than a few. I’m going back tomorrow with a couple of bags & will do a harvest. I’ll wash them & store them in the fridge until I go home & then stew them for winter eating. Gotta love free found food 😃. #HouseSit #PetSit #FoundFood

Both are sniffing the early morning smells.A couple of very large trees with exposed roots in a dry creek bed. One very tiny black poodle can be seen in the corner having a sniff, but does give an idea of the size of the trees. Bush is behind them.Wild red plums growing in a dry creek bed but obviously getting plenty of water as they are plump & the leaves are lush & thick.
2025-12-27

Good morning tooters. It was around 12c last night & a pretty good night for sleeping well. I do seem to be having a wake time about 3am every night lately. Got up just before 6am & today it will be a warm 32c.
I don’t know what was going on yesterday but my phone, iPad & watch all seemed to deplete their batteries rather quickly & even though I charged my watch up yesterday, it discharged itself totally overnight. It’s not the first time & it is getting old. I might need to replace it this year. It’s a Fitbit & while I quite like it, I’m leaning towards an Apple Watch.
Because it’s going to be warm, once I’ve had a shower I will take the dogs for a little walk down to the creek & then I will head into Wodonga to water my own garden & fill up the birdbath & generally check on things. After which I’ll come back to Chiltern to chill for the afternoon.
Hope you all have a lovely calm & peaceful #Sunday 🌻. #Weather #Devices #HouseSit #PetSit

Good morning Fedi friends. Another very cool 5c morning just after 6am, but the sun was up & it’s going to be a lovely sunny & warm 28c.
Today is a day for mostly just relaxing, just staying at the sit playing with the dogs, maybe a little walk down to the creek, reading, watching tv, enjoying the sunshine- just mooching around really. Since the funny incident with the rabbit the other morning I’ve been taking the dogs out into the paddock first thing every day. I only have to say “where’s the rabbit” & George takes off looking for it with little Ebby racing behind him but there hasn’t been one since. Gives them both a good little run before I feed them. I do have to go & see to the chickens & cat at the other place, but if I take the car it’s only a 10 minute job. Looking forward to a do nothing day 😊.
Hope you all have a wonderful #Saturday & that life is kind to you all 🌻. #Weather #HouseSit #PetSit #RelaxingDay

2025-12-25

Good morning my tooting friends. Another chilly night down here in Chiltern. It was just 5c overnight doesn’t feel much better now although the sun is lovely. Heading to a very pleasant 24c today. There was a lot of strong wind overnight & caused one of the outdoor blinds to come loose & was banging around during the night. I’ll try to figure out a temporary fix today for the homeowner. I need to find some string or wire - we’ll see what I can come up with. No bunny 🐇for the dogs to chase this morning, but they were definitely looking.
It won’t be exactly a quiet day for me unfortunately. I’m heading into town, checking out my place & watering the garden. I need a couple of things from the supermarket & will also visit my sister who has family visits from Sydney so I’ll catch up with them as well. Then back here to Chiltern where I will go over to what is another regular house sit here & feed their cat & chooks (they took the dogs with them) before I come back to the sit I am actually doing.
Reading all that I’ve just decided I’m going to buy my lunch 🤣.
Have a wonderful Boxing Day #Friday, hope you’ve all recovered from yesterday 🐨. #Weather #BoxingDay #Busy - again! #HouseSit #PetSit

2025-12-24

Good morning Fedi fam 😃. Chilly start to the day & it’s not going to be a very warm one at a forecast of 22c.
My start to the day was hilarious. Took the dogs out first thing so they could have a run around the paddock & there was a rabbit! So funny, both dogs took off like the clappers, George in the lead & little Ebby yipping & yapping from behind. Round the paddock after this rabbit, into the next paddock, back to the first paddock & me nearly peeing myself laughing. The rabbit got away & I knew it would, it’s somewhere down near the creek now. The dogs are very pleased with themselves & got there daily exercise & I’ve had a good laugh.
Hope you all get some good laughs today as well.
Merry Christmas 🎄 to those of us who celebrate. Have a wonderful day 🎄.
