A long-legged fly, metallic yellow-green gradually turning to red-gold, with bright emerald-green eyes. Its clear wings have black markings near the tips. It is on a green patio table, eyeing the camera keenly.

A largeish yellow and black, bee-like hoverfly on a brown-eyed Susan flower (like a black-eyed Susan but smaller). Its eyes are dark red, its face silver, and its legs dusted with yellow pollen.

We see a large yellow and black fly perched on the edge of a caterpillar-gnawed green leaf. The fly has a black body and luxurious golden fur on its back and head. Its two finger-shaped antennae stick out above its black bean shaped eyes. Dangling from its long mouthparts, pierced through its thorax, is the corpse of a small black and brown beetle.

I think it’s a common green fly, but it flew away before I could snap a pic on the other side of the kitchen door.

A tiny fly perched on the outside of the window of the kitchen storm door, so we see the underside of the bug, but it’s backlit and body looks dark. Legs and the wings are brown. In the background, there are my flowerbed and the condo courtyard lawn seen through the two white columns of the railing.

#FlydayFriday: Warm weather has returned and so have what I call "zebra flies", _Anthomyia_! With their dark red eyes and striking black and white stripes they are very appealing.
