In today's #retrocomputing adventure, I learned:
- Only the first PCI slot in my #COMPAQ #Presario 5184 exposes its option ROM, sometimes. At least for the NIC.
- Compiling #XTIDE will work in Linux if you get rid of the .exe extensions and replace del with rm, but you also have to remember to replace all the backslashes with slashes or the checksum perl script won't run and you'll get a 101-I/O ROM Error!
My first PDA was the first-generation Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC.
I had the Ericsson T39m as a phone, which was the first mobile phone with built-in GPRS and Bluetooth.
Had mobile web always at hand even in middle school, and Pocket PC port of SimCity 2000!
I bought a #compaq Armada m700 at the thrift store yesterday! It's a really nice pentium III laptop (1999 thin and light)
HOWEVER there's one terrible OCD triggering design compromise on this thing.
Why did it have to be this way Compaq... WHY?!

Here's a collection of laptops in time for Christmas! "Primal Fear" has two Compaqs: an LTE Elite and Starring-the-Computer debutante Contura 400. "Coneheads" has a Toshiba T1000LE and "In the Mouth of Madness" has a GRiD 2260. Finally a couple more debutantes: a Dell Latitude D630 in a "Cobra Kai" episode and a Panasonic Toughbook CF-Y7 in an episode of "Burn Notice".

Я большой фанат ноутбуков и любых схожих с ними устройств. В моей небольшой коллекции есть самые разные модели: с десктопными Pentium 4, с дискретными GPU от S3 Graphics и даже парочку «отвальных» ноутбуков с MXM-видеокартами. Однако одна модель особенно выделяется — ведь Compaq M300 был не только мощным и при этом компактным ноутбуком родом из 1999 года, но ещё и игровым — благодаря дискретной графике от ATi. Seller offers discount—intrigued—but it's just the board, would need the rest, but then I could have that quad Pentium Pro I've been wanting ever since this model came into existence (make it the Black Edition, 200Mhz + 2MB cache). There's simply never enough time to enjoy all of the vintage machines of which daydreams are made.
