Install of VS Codium to replace VS Code went nicely (via 'snap' in Ubuntu's 'App Center').
Needed only to reinstall a couple of extensions and reconnect to github (which is another service for which like to review alternatives).
Also took the opportunity to install a 'linter' (Ruff) for superficial code review - it's a helpful tool; learned about the risk of 'bare excepts' which are ubiquitous in online code snippets/advice.

Interestingly, it only does this if I open it from the terminal window within #codium.
If I open it straight from the OS it does not complain.
I don't trust unmodified #microsoft software.

Finally replaced Obsidian with #codium for using it as personal notebook / diary / todo list keeper.
I can not work with an editor that does no syntax highlighting even it is about plain text.

🎨 pour aider à distinguer les fenêtres #codium / #vscode des différents projets, j'ai installé l'#extension johnpapa.vscode-peacock qui permet de configurer la couleur dominante d'un workspace (= un projet). À partir de cette couleur, l'extension génère un lot de configurations dans la catégorie workbench.colorCustomizations (modifiable dans le fichier .vscode/settings.json du projet). Une fois la personnalisation faite, on peut désinstaller l'extension.

It turns out I already had the verilator lint support installed in my #vscode

And once I compiled/installed #verilator (and set up the path, which unfortunately seems to be manual), it is integrated nicely. It doesn't seem to run automatically though as I type.

Zumindest zu Irfan und Notepad++ kann ich sagen, das beide in Wine ganz anständig laufen.
Statt Irfan nutze ich mittlerweile #Nomacs und als Editor #Codium - falls du da mal schauen willst.
