More serious comment: What's really great about that #Amiga / #MorphOS community is that there are a lot of software "authors", like, single persons writing serious, usable apps and maintaining them for years.
Yes, sometimes you need to pay for apps - maybe there's a relation? 😉
We'd need way more of that on #Linux, and it's a pity @elementary isn't succeeding offering paid apps on its #AppCenter yet.

You should be able to use the apps and app stores that you trust without any gate keeping from your operating system. That’s a big part of why we chose to build our app store on @FlatpakApps

- Basically making an #AntiGAFAM - legislation only be complyable by the #GAFAMs unless one wants to blow all revenue for #bureaucracy and yeet the #SingleMarket!
Competitiors like #AndroidPit #AppCenter got killed by that.

Whereas in #China there's still some competition, but #Huawei's #AppGallery demanding a 50% cut before taxes for #Games makes #Steam look like a saint!
@dec_hl I think something like an #App #curator site that allows #filtering / has said filters set by default as a "#SafeSearch" would be propably best...
- The core problem is that since there's no #affiliate program woth #Apple's #AppStore nor #GooglePlay and @EUCommission having killed competitiors to the latter like #AndroidPit #AppCenter with #VAT shite, there is no ethical way to monetize it once it exceeds the average #WebHoster's "unlimited traffic" plans...
Not to mention it'll get #downranked and #shadowbanned from both platfirms pretty quickly.

- Instead of levying #tariffs on #GAFAMs comitting #CapitalFlight and #TaxEvasion, the #EU decided to basically kill #domestic #competition with bs. like demanding that #AppStores have to pay #VAT / #GST / #SalesTax in the customers' nation.
That's why there's no #AndroidPit #AppCenter anymore!
- And I do know that #Zensursula or the @EUCommission don't really give a wet fart about that, because they want a #SurveillanceState and #PoliceState and would rather choose to die from #LateStageCapitalism than accept the necessity for #SystemChangeNotClimateChange!

@Ubuntu 的 #AppCenter 軟體商店是用 Flutter 寫的，在中文環境下完全沒辦法看它軟體裡面的中日韓字元，但只要切到英文環境，中日韓字元就正常顯示了....
Further testing @elementary I am very happy I eventually could fix the annoying "hanging screen" bug, which was due to a bug of the #i915 graphics driver. Now the whole experience is a lot better thanks to the great hint of @mikael I only read by chance.

Ubuntu’s App Center Updated, Can Now Open/Install DEB Packages
Ubuntu’s Flutter-based App Center can now open and install 3rd-party DEB installers. An App Center update that adds support for ‘side-loading’ DEB packages began rolling out to users on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS in the past few weeks (but as snaps update in the background silently, without any indication or alert, I only just noticed). To be clear: this is about being able to install DEB packages you download from the web (e.g., Google Chrome, Discord, Steam, Vivaldi, Slack, etc) using App Center. It’s not about installing DEBs from the Ubuntu repos, which was already possible. With this update it is :sys_more_orange:

DEB Installers in Ubuntu App Center Coming Soon
One of the biggest drawback to Ubuntu’s new App Center, the Flutter-based replacement for GNOME’s Software Center, is that it doesn’t let you install DEBs downloaded from the web. To be clear (since confusion often creeps in) the Ubuntu App Center does allow you to install DEB software so long as it’s the Ubuntu repos. What it doesn’t (currently) do, which the many software center incarnations over the years did, is ‘side load’ DEB packages. But, at long last, this feature is coming. On the App Center Github there’s been a spurt of activity in a pull request to plumb :sys_more_orange:
