@bammerlaan
For example one could create a false information and try to block the comments which dispell it, thus making only fake manipulative comments to exist. The toots will become more manipulative as truth can be hidden in plain sight. So maybe a content warning for the toot will help maintain transparency and help us atleast will try finding the truth

People here also suggest me a nice stack for monitoring. Lightweight suggestions are appreciated too. Target: Linux system, container, etc

@dansup
It'll make people do some authoritarian behaviour. I think the best thing is to put those under a content warning as "OP blocked user" or something like that. This will make things transparent.
And in client side one can choose to not see such warning posts in their feed. This will be a better suggestion IMO.

My use case:
To deploy a high availability server with less reliance on external service like cloudfare etc and expose it to public internet

I saw a feature in tailscale where we can kind of use it like load balancing and saw recently that netbird brought a load balancer for it.

My aim to have a very simplified approach with auto SSL certificates etc

@katexochen it's not official one. It felt convenient. Now gonna start using the one u shared. 😄 Thanks

I always search for the options here:
home-manager-options.extranix.

I wonder why it didn't show it🤔

BlueSky and Mastodon have millions in funding, and I love that for them.

Funding can help, but you don't need millions in the bank to build platforms and experiences people love.

Pixelfed is proof, now with 1M+ people, it just goes to show that dedication and a vision can get you far.

So build. 🚀

#Tailscale vs #Netbird vs #Pangolin vs anything which is from #wireguard

What do u all suggest to use for a batteries included aproach.
I want something which is very easy to setup and run from my local machine or a #VPS using #NixOS. Initially I don't wanna self host, so a managed service is also okay for me.
Want to create Highly Available, Load balancers included,& let me expose the service to the public.

I tried tailscale & it's really cool. But seeing netbird etc, I want ur opinions 😅

@apps
U could go for some incremental build systems like nix maybe🤔
I'm not an expert, just saying that as an option

Vivekanandan KS :nixos:(vivek)vivekanandanks@mstdn.social
2026-02-18

@hmnews I couldn't find this option even in unstable branch 🤔

Worse thing is if u manually remove the package from the filesystem, the services are still there to manually clean up?
This is one more reason I suggest using nix home manager and the system-manager(recently released the stable version) for system management.
It feels more right to do things declaratively

Hi All,
I found the author's account. Tagging him here to let him know this thread.

@jwallen
Hi Jack. 😄Please have a look at this thread.
No offense, Just pure dispelling of the misunderstandings u have.
Let's keep things constructive 🤝&help u understand it better.
I thought I'll make a blog in response to the misunderstandings in your post. But I think it'll be way better if we both can have a friendly YouTube live where I can help u understand it directly. Shall we do it?

@futureisfoss
I don't know everything about nix, nixos too. But things works coz of its purely functional nature. And also vimjoyer have videos about how to make options for home manager etc. It's actually easier, but I haven't tried it coz most of the things will be available in home manager itself and many projects starts giving their own home modules too😃
Take ur time if u wanna create some options for yourself😄

@delta
I'm not an expert on these, but this feels very much like what nostr people have achieved. Like identity sovereign and servers are just relays. Something like that. Maybe u should check those out and collab if possible

@IncredibleLaser
Also the aim of the toot is to say that things like these are solving common shared problems by everyone. 😆Which is also the reason why I love nix ecosystem stuffs.
It's the byproduct of purely functional and declarative paradigms.
