Endlich ist das #t480 Display angekommen. Allerdings ist es ohne Brackets, also wohl nicht ganz dasselbe Modell.

Model B140HAN04.0 von "AU Optronics".

Zwei kleine Tupfen Doppelklebeband halten das Display jetzt im Rahmen.

Zu spät habe ich mitbekommen, dass man auch ein T490 Low Power Display verbauen kann. Mal schauen ob es mal irgendwann ein Upgrade gibt.

Operation erfolgreich, Patient läuft wieder. 🎉

So ein Mist. Das #T480 ist immer noch tot: Das eDP Verbindungskabel zwischen Display und Mainboard wars nicht.

Jetzt habe ich mal ein Ersatzdisplay bestellt für 52 Euro mit 0-Pixelfehler-Garantie.

Wenn das auch nicht klappt ist es wohl ein Schaden am Mainboard selbst, weil die RAMs habe ich schon kreuz- und quer- und ausgetauscht ohne Änderung.

Display Modellnummer LM140LF2L soll es sein.

Ein aufgeklapptes T40 Thinkpad. Das Display zeigt in einem oberen Streifen noch ein Bootmenü an, die unteren 4/5 zeigen nur senkrechte Streifen die nach unten dunkler werden, so als ob das Bild "herabfließen" würde.

Mein Thinkpad T480 Akku schwächelt .. kann jemand Ersatz empfehlen? - Abgesehen von original Lenovo, denn die sind recht preisintensiv.

Any experience with how #linux deals with battery-switching on the #Thinkpad #T480?

I've seen reports of similar models just dying once the main battery drains.

You can take it out and examine the touchpad. Usually the internal battery has to be removed to gain access to the screws that release the touchpad.

I have had to replace a few touchpads, but sometimes just taking them out, cleaning a bit and reinstalling makes them behave better.

The replacement touchpad part is not that expensive (usually) and should be fairly readily available for the T480 as that is a common model.

On the ThinkPad T480, the USB-C ports, both the "charging port" and in the "dock" connector are soldered to the motherboard and not easy to replace.

Note that you can use both USB-C ports to charge the laptop and both for data.

@qwertzy @thorsten die Lenovo #t480 haben Intel Core i5 oder i7 Prozessoren der 8000er Reihe und sind somit win11 fähig.

Die T480 sind auch die letzten mit herausnehmbatem Akku. Ab T490 muss man aufschrauben zum Akku Tausch. Was aber auch kein Problem ist im Gegensatz zu Acer oder anderen Consumer-Büchsen.

Ich mag mein T480. Keine Schönheit, eher robuster Panzer. Kantig, zweckmäßig, zuverlässig. Laden über USB-C mit jedem 65W PowerDelivery Netzteil.

so far I tried debian, pop!os (20), fedora 42/43/silverblue, cachyOS and arch on the #thinkpad #t480 - ah yes, and win10 for about 5 minutes. What I still plan to test are majaro, ubuntu, openSuse, elementary, freeBSD, gnomeOS and Haiku.

I'd also try Gentoo but imho I don't have time for that as I used to.

The next partition got a cachyos. Not sure about that one. Definitely not win10 normy ready #thinkpad #t480
