So, I know I am opening myself up to some deserved ridicule if I say, here in 2026, "gosh, I've just discovered this band called the Sisters of Mercy, and they're not half bad!", but yeah, I've just found out that I quite like them, after all.

I knew *of* them of course, and I liked 'This Corrosion' and that 'Emma' cover, but other than that they were firmly in the category of bands I knew nothing about because I was convinced I didn't like them.

But then this tribute band came to town, and (a) I really dug their band name, and (b) a friend of mine (who *really* likes the Sisters) wanted to go because he saw the actual #SistersOfMercy in concert a few years back and they were so godawfully bad it still hurt.

So I went along, and as preparation listened to their back catalogue... and was very pleasantly surprised. They're not gonna become my #1 band of all time (I find his singing still very hard to take seriously), but I must admit I have been unjustly avoiding them.

The tribute band was excellent, by the way, so if they ever come your way I highly recommend them. They're from Gent in Belgium, and they focus mainly on the early songs, which I think are the best, anyway. (Except for Under The Gun -- what a terrific song is that!)
