todays #blighters have given up with the French Embassy, but are bizzarely *constantly* trying to dial wrong numbers or what appear to be valid numbers (today, someone in Denmark appears to be being targeted) but with a *really* bizzare set of escape digits beforehand..

Either they are #vibecoding their #SIP #hacking scripts and have 0 idea of how telephone numbers are actually formatted, or they are hoping to get a reorder back from someone who *has* misconfigured their #trunk or left it insecure, and then use that one for actual calls..

Just over a month and I've tamed all the #trunks (with abundant snake heads at the end), made sure 1500+ #blighters are yeeted (with more trying every day) got inter #PBX #trunk working between on-premises and cloud #FreePBX - just waiting for porting of first analogue number to check this (and CLID presentation) works and then main office one can follow.

Took many late evenings, a lot of research of everything from old #BritishTelecom training manuals to some from Universities in India and the Indian telecom companies, and I've learned a lot more about #SIP even since 2008 when I built the first #VOIP #PBX used at work.

Thankfully #routers seem to handle #SIP over #NAT a lot better than they used to (even got an extension it working over #LTE with #Linphone)

As an experiment, I asked #MS365 #Copilot to explain how to set up #SIP trunk on #FreePBX using #PJSIP (consider that I have already successfully set up several of these, to external providers and an inter-PBX line between two servers).

Results it returned were horribly mangled and mixed up from various providers sites, if you followed them the trunk likely won't work at all, and even if it did it would end up in completely wrong context/dialplan.

It didn't mention such things as fromuser and took a few prompts to point out potential firewall issues.

You need to know (or learn) the basics of #telephony before starting, or else it will all go tits up very quickly - #AI is still no substitute for "boots on the ground" who have put in research for what they are trying to achieve..

Surprised it took me so long to discover #SNGREP (which has been around for a while), its a game changer compared to looking at the #Asterisk console trying to pick out the #SIP traffic you want from all the other stuff.

It also intercepts packets at kernel level (before any firewall) giving you an insight as to how many #blighters are trying to exploit #VOIP phone systems (especially those where you *have* to open 5060 UDP to connect correctly to SIP trunk providers and/or other PBX or else no inbound calls arrive)

Even produces call flow diagrams which look like the 1980s era training manuals for ISDN from British Telecom I downloaded!

What is the Spiritual Care Specialist Training Program?

People practicing in care ministries, whether professional or volunteer positions, sometimes find themselves at a loss as to how to respond to the kinds of problems around which their care-receivers are seeking help. Addiction, mental health challenges, trauma, and domestic violence are only a few issues that may require a mental health perspective.

The Spiritual Care Specialist Training teaches people engaged in ministries of care to integrate knowledge
and skills from the behavioral health field into their work in order to perform their caregiving more
effectively, ethically, and safely.

Have you ever wanted to learn more about these kinds of issues and build your repertoire of helping skills, so that you can provide a more competent and confident ministry of care? ACPE’s Spiritual Care Specialist training program supports people working in all manner of caring ministries to do their work more effectively, ethically, and safely.

This intensive format offering of the program consists of two phases: the 1st Phase consists of pre-recorded self-paced modules with assigned homework (28 hours).

Phase 1 can be started anytime before the live sessions begin. ​ Phase 1: Self-Paced Material (28 hours) In addition to the live sessions, students will be required to watch pre-recorded lectures (16 hours total) at a time that is convenient for them, but encouraged to keep pace with the corresponding material of the live sessions.

The final 12 hours consist of homework assignments and personal reflection exercises that are also self-paced. No additional books are required and all materials will be provided. Newly enrolled students are able to access the self-paced material immediately in advance if they sign up early before the live sessions. ​

Phase 2: Live Sessions (20 hours) Sessions will be conducted by Zoom. Students must have access to a computer with an internet connection in order to participate. Students must attend all sessions in order to finish the program requirements.

La SIP alarmada por represión contra espacios independientes de expresión y debate en Cuba

La Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa (SIP) expresó su alarma por la detención en Cuba de Ernesto Ricardo Medina y Kamil Zayas Pérez, dos ciudadanos que han abierto un espacio independiente de expresión, análisis y opinión sobre los principales problemas que afectan a la población, integrantes del proyecto audiovisual independiente El4tico (El Cuartico), en lo que constituye una nueva violación del derecho humano a la libertad de expresión. La organización hemisférica reclama su liberación inmediata y el cese de la persecución contra quienes ejercen pacíficamente su derecho a informar, opinar y promover el pensamiento crítico en la isla.

Medina y Zayas fueron arrestados el 6 de febrero en la ciudad de Holguín durante un operativo policial, según reportó el medio independiente 14ymedio. De acuerdo con distintas publicaciones, las fuerzas de seguridad registraron sus viviendas, incautaron equipos electrónicos y los trasladaron a la sede de Instrucción Penal de Holguín, conocida localmente como “Todo el mundo canta”, donde activistas denuncian la práctica de interrogatorios coercitivos.

Anticipándose a la posibilidad de su arresto, Zayas dejó un mensaje que fue difundido en redes sociales un día después de su detención: “Si están viendo o leyendo esto, es porque finalmente encontraron la manera de trancarme, de intentar ponerme la mordaza temporal… He hablado siempre sin odio, sin polarización, porque la idea central ha sido fomentar el pensamiento crítico… Declaro que esta detención es arbitraria, cobarde, previsible. Exijo respeto al debido proceso, información inmediata sobre dónde estoy y cómo estoy, y mi liberación sin condiciones, porque no he cometido crimen alguno más que el de pensar con cabeza propia”.

El presidente de la SIP, Pierre Manigault, señaló que “la persecución contra personas que generan espacios de debate y cuestionamiento público refleja la intolerancia del régimen cubano frente a cualquier manifestación de pensamiento independiente”. Manigault, presidente del grupo Evening Post Publishing Inc., con sede en Charleston, Carolina del Sur, Estados Unidos, agregó que “la libertad de expresión no puede ser tratada como un delito. Reclamamos garantías de debido proceso, información inmediata sobre su situación y su liberación sin condiciones”.

Por su parte, la presidenta de la Comisión de Libertad de Prensa e Información de la SIP, Martha Ramos, afirmó que “no puede existir libertad de prensa ni de expresión en un país donde se responde con arrestos, confiscaciones y hostigamiento a quienes ejercen su derecho a opinar y cuestionar al poder”. Ramos, directora editorial de la Organización Editorial Mexicana (OEM), añadió que “en el actual contexto de crisis económica y social, agravada por severos problemas energéticos que provocan apagones de más de 20 horas diarias en amplias zonas del país, estos espacios independientes cumplen una función esencial para la ciudadanía”.

El proyecto audiovisual independiente El4tico, lanzado en 2022, se ha convertido en un espacio de análisis y conversación pública sobre la realidad cubana, con especial atención a problemáticas sociales, económicas y políticas que afectan al oriente de la isla.

A finales de enero, la SIP denunció una escalada de detenciones arbitrarias, arrestos domiciliarios y hostigamiento policial contra periodistas y comunicadores independientes en Cuba, enmarcada en un andamiaje legal restrictivo que criminaliza el ejercicio de la libertad de expresión y busca sofocar cualquier espacio de información, crítica y deliberación pública. –sn–

As I wrote before (https://mastodon.bsd.cafe/@evgandr/115912395421390028) I tried to use TURN server for communication with my relatives, but failed to setup secure enough solution. So, I decided to try an old and reliable solution — Asterisk. With the help of a book "Asterisk: The Definitive Guide" from J.V. Meggelen & R. Bryant & L. Madsen, of course.

First, I was forced to build the asterisk package by myself (from ports, ofc), since the binary version from NetBSD repository compiled with the all DB support, except my favourite PostgreSQL database.

By the way, adding users and writing dialplan with the help of aforementioned book was not so hard as I expected :drgn_happy_blep:. Same for network setup. Since, I'm using PJSIP I just opened SIPS port and a range of UDP ports for RTP protocol on the my firewall. Despite, my home network hidden behind NAT on the router, there are no big problems with networking — end-user devices and an Asterisk server connected with use of simple star topology.

Surpisingly, the quality of the voice call is excellent comparing with service, provided by local cellular network operators. I suppose, that the secret in used codecs, or it is because there are not so much users (only 2) of my service.
