A slightly belated #knitting #WIPWednesday - I was traveling and had left the #lace project behind. (A: it's not a travel project, and B: I had introduced an error. NB: mohair is not fun to #tink.)

It is nearly time to shift to a longer circular, if only to make it easier to photograph!

Not a lot of progress this past week as I was away, but still enjoying this project. The pattern is Nim's Windflower #shawl, the yarn is Lichen & Lace (#NB) Marsh Mohair in the variegated sage.

A lace knitting project is partially spread on a dark wood table, displaying its semicircular shape and the four flowers are becoming more clearly visible in the fabric. The first ball of yarn is about half knit up, indicating the project is nearly one quarter of the way done.

It has been a busy week, lacking any travel so the blanket got no work. The _Windflower_ #shawl got what little attention I gave to #knitting. And, honestly, is going faster than I expected.

Still far less than 1/3 complete.

A knitting project lies on dark fabric. The project, a semi-circle of lace in a fine yarn dyed a variegated light green, is now at 70 rows completed.

Update on my shawl. Finished the transition between the greens and the reds (summer and fall).

Back onto the tunisian knit stitch before winter starts.

The highlight of this holiday season for me is that I was able to give away a prized possession to someone who would really cherish it.

In 1984, I bought my mom a gift: a typical shawl from Michoacán, Mexico. When Mom passed, I kept the shawl, and it’s spent years in drawer. This Christmas, I’ve passed it on to a young woman who loves textiles. She even works with them in an art museum.

The shawl is laid out (folded lengthwise) on a coffee table. It is navy blue with narrow light blue strips. It has a fringe on both ends.

#TMW in blocking a #lace #shawl after it has been soaked, you have the wires in place, the measuring cloth on the foam pads, and you discover you did not put the 4+ containers of t-pins away last time and you have no idea what you did with them.

I don’t like counting large numbers of stitches between markers. But some #knitting patterns make it really hard to find a place to leave a marker that doesn’t involve moving the marker as you knit.
