Ive reached a point in this project where i either have to give up or start outright winging it until i make it to the finish line

Its intended to be the canopy of a parasol, but i miscalcluated when initially planning the project and its radius is currently half of what it needs to be to fit the frame i bought to finish it. My plan to "double" the original pattern isnt going to work as i thought it would and there will be huge additional sections i have to design and execute on top of the original doubling and its just so overwhelming to think about bc circles and math and planning are difficult

Ive already frogged and rewoven so much of this thing so many times, im learning a LOT as i go but its just... a lot to know much more of that there is to get thru before its done

Im hoping that sharing here will help me get grounded and motivated to dive into the second "half" of this thing

I put my fingers next to the stitches for scale, theyre not the tiniest ive ever done but theyre still pretty small/fine

As of this morning I am officially started into chart 2 of the shawl pattern. I estimate I am more than a third, but less than half done.

The pattern is called Hydrangea from Tomoko Morimoto's book called "New Tatting" and I am trying to think of spring....

A tatted piece of lace that is about the size of a small doily. It uses pink and green variegated thread to create these variable clusters of floral motifs inside an outline of beige thread.

It's not complete yet so the tails of the last row are still attached and my shuttle used to make it sits to the left. It's a silver oval tool with a pointy nose.

Well, that was interesting. I went downstairs to get my #lace out of the car trunk from yesterday, and found that we would have to shovel inside of our house for the first time is a quarter of a century that we've lived here....

A slightly belated #knitting #WIPWednesday - I was traveling and had left the #lace project behind. (A: it's not a travel project, and B: I had introduced an error. NB: mohair is not fun to #tink.)

It is nearly time to shift to a longer circular, if only to make it easier to photograph!

Not a lot of progress this past week as I was away, but still enjoying this project. The pattern is Nim's Windflower #shawl, the yarn is Lichen & Lace (#NB) Marsh Mohair in the variegated sage.
