My Z180 SC50 PC is complete and operating fully.
It’s so close I can taste the epoxy casing. I don’t quite know where in Canada Post’s system it is, since the tracking number I have is for some Chinese outfit that is regurgitating CP’s feed with no details.
But I *might* have my Z180 CPUs on Monday… we’ll see!
Say hello to my little friend…
Progress so far on the SC50 Z180 PC build. The CPU board is just waiting for the PLCC carrier and CPU (the ROM is flashed and will go in once CPU arrives).
The power board is awaiting the heatsink, switches, a 1nF cap and the supervisor IC. I’ve upgraded the screw terminals to Europlug terminals (my power supply has one set of leads that are terminated with Europlug).
The other boards are waiting on DIP-20 sockets and some right angled DIP switches to make setting board addresses much more fun than simple jumper shunts.
Finally, the backplane is awaiting header receptacles.
I love the fact that I can reach in to a box ... and pull out an entire tube of 7400 series ICs of practically any model I need.
Got home to a nice package from @mos_8502 (thank you so much!) of SC50 boards. Except the Z180 CPU, I literally have all but a couple of small components needed to populate all these boards in a single go if I wanted to. Going to order the PLCC carrier, side switches and the XTAL on Monday.
Dunno if anyone has a line on Z8S18033 PLCC CPUs in North America ... otherwise I'm stuck ordering some shitty ones from China.
