Looking for assistance with an Epson printer dilemma. Please see the alt text for a detailed description.

Printer is an Epson SureColor P400. The issue seems to be this rogue wire sticking out and I'm hoping there is a solution (other than a new printer).

Top-down looking under the hood of an Epson SureColor P400 printer. In the centre of the image there is what seems to be a somewhat stiff white wire sticking out from under what I think is part of the paper feeding system. To the right is the ink cartridge conveyor.

First symptom that something was wrong was when the both the paper jam and ink lights were on and the conveyor wouldn't move on startup (ergo, no printing possible). After way too long I saw this wire sticking out and tried stuffing it back underneath. It didn't seem to want to stay there. Tried a test print and it worked except the next problem was a crooked print (which I suspect is from this wire skewing the paper alignment when the paper comes through?).

I have tried unsuccessfully to push this wire back underneath the little "cover" (there are about 6 covers total) - it keeps popping out. I can see this wire when looking in from the front where the print comes out but cannot determine how or where it is supposed to be.

Any suggestions on what is going on here and/or how to rectify the situation would be much appreciated (I'd rather try to fix/get it fixed because I just bought a bunch of new ink cartridges). To clarify, I am able to print but the results are crooked, which is not ideal.
