[ Solved ] WiFi Kept Disconnecting in Arch Linux
I just received an email from #UNWomenAustralia about International Womens' Day and buying purple ribbons for the day to share.
What annoys me, is that the email does not state the date of #iwd. And when I follow the link to the ribbons webpage, it also doesn't provide the date - except right down in the footer in smaller text. In one place on the whole page. Likewise, on their homepage, the date is just on the footer.
Apparently, we are supposed to have this date etched in our memories?
Yes, there is a countdown counter at the top of the page, but hey! maths isn't everybody's thing and you shouldn't make the user work to find important information.
This is really poor #communications and design, not stating a critical piece of information, especially from such a high profile organisation. And not uncommon, in my experience with emails and website.
Thinking about how your work, aims, etc is accessed, read, understood and disseminated by your key audience is really a basic communication skill.
Fyi, #IWD is 8 March 2026.
Looks like NetworkManager and iwd still is not a good combination:

At least iwd always quickly reconnects...

I tried patching iwd, but something still set accept_ra to 0.
So now I'm using iwd with systemd-networkd, and after doing a stupid thing, creating /etc/systemd/network/25-wlan.conf (instead .network) and wondering why it didn't work, I now have a ULA IPv6 address on the interface.
Okay!
#iwd indeed contains a line that sets accept_ra to 0-
But why? The behavior doesn't seem configurable?
I **want** autoconfig!

what an incredible set. so much energy. tore the place apart. fantastic selection, some sick basslines. just absolutely smashed it. great to see.
Trying out IWD for the first time in a few years, seems much improved. Was dubious about claims it joined networks quicker, but there might be something to it. Roaming between access points might even be better. I wonder if they've fixed 802.1x - will have to give it a try on my work machine.
Booting into #ArchLinux after a long time and holy shit, #iwd is excellent CLI design. The live updating output is especially amazing.

After years of using #NetworkManager because I had no clue what a #wpa_supplicant or #iwd was, I finally switched to systemd-networkd. I don't dislike NetworkManager and I will miss the integration in GNOME Settings, but I just prefer systemd-resolved, which depends a bit on systemd-networkd for some #DNS functionality I want.
I also discovered #impala for configuring iwd. What a neat utility. And it's written in Rust, which automatically makes it even better.
on this international workers' day, a thought for those whose labour goes largely unacknowledged, unappreciated & unpaid. here's to the carers & the cleaners & everyone else without whom the world would pretty much grind to a halt. ask iceland.
