I've been here on Mastodon using iOS for four years now. I've always gone back and forth between two clients that I really like, @ivory and @IceCubesApp. Do you have a favorite? Why?

I like that #ivoryapp has the smoothest scrolling
I like that #icecubesapp supports fedi features sooner and loads custom emojis faster and MOST IMPORTANTLY supports animated emojis. But it doesn’t scroll well :blobcatfacepalm: maybe those things are related
At least we have a choice in apps and I get to support both, but I truly wish we got a little more cross-contamination of features.
Wow, wish I’d taught myself sooner. Just realized I can use #IvoryApp’s lists to contain people I want to read/follow, but not filling my main timeline. And Ivory included a splendid little toggle to automatically take anything that appears in a list out of the main timeline to avoid duplicates. No need to also create mutes.
So I had like several hundred unread toots, and I settled in on my desktop to catchup and started Ivory and BOOM! no unread toots. How do I get Ivory to not mark everything as read? #ivoryapp
Ooh, #ivoryapp supports animated gifs…
I was getting quite frustrated with the basic Mastodon app, so now I'm trying #Ivoryapp on iOS, iPadOS and MacOS.
So far, so good. More fully-featured than the stock app, but it does charge you for them.
It has a year to wow me.
Ok I figured an odd behavior out in #ivoryapp.
If I reply to a post someone has boosted from my timeline it will reply to BOTH the poster and the person who boosted.
If I enter the post and reply there, it will only reply to the person who posted it.
Testing a new app for mastodon that will hopefully stop me getting lost between phone and laptop.
#ivoryapp seems quite snappy so far.
Off-the-cuff Ivory feature suggestion: option to have Bluesky handles (i.e. @*.bsky.social) that appear in the feed link instead to the Mastodon user provided by Bridgy or another service (e.g. @*@bsky.brid.gy)
I know it’s quite an edge-case, but it’s something I stumbled across on my feed and thought maybe it would be a nice little perk.
Ich habe nur die Trial-Version auf dem Telefon, bin aber neugierig und frage deshalb in die Runde: Kann #IvoryApp immer noch kein Audio?
A feature I would *love* to see in Ivory (the Mastodon client): the ability to have the client show your personal notes about people inline in your feed, perhaps below their name/handle.
This would be of immense help to my ADHD brain as I’d have pertinent details about individuals right there.

The Ivory app for Mastodon was just featured at WWDC 2025.

Notice the toot horn button in the @ivory app.
Well, let's take a look to see if #MonaApp now allows adding text that spans multiple lines without a line feed hiding the text added below the bottom of the input window. It's why I stopped using it after the bug report…
Typing…
Getting close now. Very close.
So what happens now?
Well, it *seems* to work.
Which is nice.
Now, is it any *better* than #IvoryApp?
I can't recall what features Mona has over Ivory. Aside from theming.
Ivory-iOS App stürzt bei mir aktuell bei der Aktivierung der „Spracheingabe“ unmittelbar ab. Stört mich zum Glück nicht. #ivoryapp
Finally, I can use this account on Ivory without having to use the Web UI, which is a reason why the alt-account have been sitting there unused for months.
Only took a little over a year or rather close to 2 years to get up to this point.
