Something new in our house! Our new Electrolux #washer and #dryer were delivered today. Hope they last as long as the 15-year-old Frigidaire pair they replaced! Didn't replace just because they were old, but the washer blew the main seal, and, of course, Frigidaire doesn't make the parts any more. Hence, replacement. And, boy howdy, have the prices gone up! Fifteen years ago we paid about $1000 for the pair, these new ones were $1000 each.

Today I learned that asking for help on #3dprinting will immediately result in an avalanche of suggestions to dry my filament. Even if it was just unpacked. From a vacuum sealed bag. That had silica gel in it.
One guy suggested I do a #temptower and looking into the print temperature. ONE GUY!
Turns out lowering the temperature from 250°C to 225°C fixed my problem. As opposed to ordering a €150 #filament #dryer. #Pragmatism for the win.
Here's a video about temp towers and why they're important: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR2tRwzFlq0
When The Dryer Smells Like It Smoked A Pack Of Cigarettes
When your dryer stinks of cigarettes and no one you know in your household smokes, it’s time to get to the bottom of things. Time to clean that sucker.
Ugh! Not looking forward to the mess, but it’s gotta be done. Don’t want a dryer fire on my hands that’s for sure.
I hope it’s an easy fix and just needs some cleaning. I definitely don’t have the budget for a new dryer. Ugh!!!!!!
Wish me luck!
i mean getting the blower fan off fully intact was a goddamn VICTORY FOR GAZ! and for nothing
i _made tools_ and even that didn't do it and instead I ended up getting really clever with a deep-throated C-clamp from Boeing Surplus and _didn't even break anything_.
but nope
just a thermostat that tested good under diagnostics - repeatedly - but invisibly failed at 240V, every time.
If I'd just done the dumbass thing and blindly replaced the thermostats and thermal fuses instead of doing it correctly and checking parts and shit?
IT WOULD'VE BEEN FINE AND IT WOULD'VE BEEN FIXED ALREADY AND I WOULDN'T'VE BOUGHT AND INSTALLED A NEW MOTOR BECAUSE OF THE UNSERVICEABLE SWITCH INSIDE
but instead I did all the _correct_ things and spent $200
what I learned is FUCK YOU TESTING GOOD THERMOSTAT
or put another way
thermostats can test fine at meter voltage but _silently fail_ at actual _operating_ voltage
anyway dryer's fixed but i'm pretty salty about it because
i learned something today

yeaaaaaah I think I'm done here, I'm pretty solid on it's this
continuity to the motor/switch assembly is good, continuity _from_ it is good, the entire black side is good, this is the only place left
in theory I could jumper it together to see if the heater comes on but that's genuinely not safe and I don't want fire in the (laundry) hole today
they REALLY don’t want you taking this apart
silver top’s US Customary hex. whatever purple lower is, I don’t have it.
