Dettifoss zählt zu den wasserreichsten Wasserfällen Europas – im Mittel stürzen hier 193 Kubikmeter Wasser pro Sekunde 44 Meter in die Tiefe. Die Kraft des Wassers ist unmittelbar spürbar, gelegentlich scheint der Boden leicht zu vibrieren. Die Gischt ist weithin sichtbar und legt sich wie ein feiner Schleier über das Ufer. Mich beeindruckt die rohe, unverfälschte Energie, die dieser Ort ausstrahlt.

Dettifoss. One kilometer walk over snow and ice and rocks, but also in winter worth the sight.
Normally I visit the other side where you can go right up to the water, but that road is currently closed

This Image is a bit of a desaster.But it is the only one I have of #Dettifoss though.And I love it.
The mother of all (european) waterfalls.The gout is so immens that you get soaking wet even on the highest point above the waterfall which is a little platform in approx. 100m distance from the waterfall.
Like many waterfalls in iceland Dettifoss leaves you stunning. But this one is pure evil.
