Neuer Einzug ins Terrarium.
In the savannas of my country a wonderful amphibian lives. It's the Dendrobates Azureus, an amphibian with beautiful blue colouring on it.
This amphibian is indigenous to my Country
You won't see the Dendrobates Azureus anywhere else on Terra in Nature.
I first encountered this amphibian when a speech was held bij my classmate.
While he was talking about him I was struck by the Beautiful Deep Dark Blue colour on the animal. When I saw photographs where you see the animal in Nature it was a beauting serene scène.
In that period it was legal to export the Dendrobates Azureus to European countries.
I didn't like the fact that they were taken out of their habitat. Creatures like this should be left alone. Especially since you can only find them on one place on the planet in Nature
I'll link a page with details about this wonderful amphibian.

Review and images by Suspsy; edited by bmathison1972
The striking yellow-banded poison dart frog (Dendrobates leucomelas) is found mostly in the rainforests of Venezuela as well as parts of Brazil, Columbia, and Guyana.
The Toymany yellow-banded poison dart frog measures 4.5 cm long, 5 cm wide, and 3.5 cm tall. As its name suggests, it has elaborate mustard yellow bands streaked across its […]

Blue Poison Dart Frog (Frogs Figurines Playset by Toymany)
Review and images by Suspsy; edited by bmathison1972
All the poison dart frogs of Central and South America are decked out in vivid colours, but the blue poison dart frog (Dendrobates tinctorius var. azureus) is particularly unique due to being decked out in brilliant blues.
Toymany’s blue poison dart frog is posed in a semi-crouching position with its right hind leg folded tightly, but its […]

Frogs Figurines Playset (Toymany)
Today I will be presenting a brief overview of the 2024 Frogs collection by Toymany, which was kindly gifted as a review sample by @Kenc and the folks at Toymany for the Blog. This was intended to be posted yesterday when the set was announced, but I was traveling for work so it’s coming up a day late. Since the purpose of this post was to announce the set, this will be a very brief overview […]

Green-and-black Poison Dart Frog (Wild Animals by Papo)
Review and images by Suspsy; edited by bmathison1972
While toads have long been associated with witchcraft and the occult due to their unpleasing appearances (to some) and the toxins they excrete from their backs, they have nothing on the poison dart frogs of Central and South America in terms of lethality. One of the most familiar members of this family is the green and black species […]

Why do dyeing poison frogs tap dance? https://phys.org/news/2024-05-dyeing-poison-frogs.html
Tap dancing #frogs: Posterior toe tapping and feeding in Dendrobates tinctorius https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/eth.13465
"#Dendrobates tinctorius have been shown to tap their posterior toes in response to a range of prey sizes, from small fruit #flies to large #crickets... they modulate their taps based on specific stimuli."
Own bred Dendrobates Azureus 🐸
It's a dart frog, but not poisonous because it doesn't get the ants to eat for being so.

Both male and female are tending the eggs. The male closely snuggles to the eggs and then goes sitting in the water. I guess he is already waiting to carry the tadpoles into the water. I am very happy with my decision to keep eggs inside the vivarium and not nurse them in a petri dish. I would be super happy if I could watch them carrying the tadpoles on their back.

this is my dendrobates tinctorius 'nominat' couple that is around 4 years old and on the right in the leaf cave you can see the first eggs they ever laid. I will leave them in the vivarium and see if they can raise their kids without my help. In a few days I should be able to tell if the eggs are fertilized and growing.
