The repair cafe my brother volunteers at in #Totnes #Devon will be running this event on the 18th of April shareshed.org.uk/events/? and are looking for volunteers to install Linux on people's laptops. If anyone's in the area and interested there's a form to fill out at the link.

I'll be there too teaching coil basketry, and I promise I'm moderately normal in real life and definitely not one of those axe murderers you meet on the internet.

The image is a vintage postcard depicting the River Dart in Totnes, England. It features calm waters with reflections of surrounding trees and structures. In the foreground, there are boats docked at what appears to be a landing place or wharf. The middle ground shows another boat on the river, moving away from the viewer's perspective. To the left, dense greenery lines part of the riverside landscape. Across the river in the background is an arched bridge connecting two parts of Totnes across the Dart River.

A wooden structure with a thatched roof and several windows can be seen to the right side on land near the water’s edge. Various buildings are visible along both sides of the river, indicating it's likely a busy area for commerce or transportation during the time this photo was taken. The sky is overcast, suggesting an early morning or late afternoon setting with subdued lighting conditions.

The overall atmosphere conveyed by the image evokes historical charm and simplicity from the turn-of-the-century period in England.

Castle Hill, Torrington, England between ca. 1890 and ca. 1900. Views of the British Isles England Torrington

#CastleHill #Torrington #England #Totnes #SouthHams #TorringtonBridge #RiverDart #CastleHills #photography #historicalPhotos #photochrom

loc.gov/pictures/item/20027081

This image depicts a scenic view from Castle Hill in Totnes, South Hams district of Devonshire. The vantage point is elevated on the hillside overlooking lush greenery and farmland sprawling down to what appears to be Torrington Bridge over River Dart below.

The focus features an individual standing at a high point along a winding path leading up to or descending from Castle Hill's edge, possibly indicative of early 20th-century attire. The castle on the hilltop has a fortified look with walls and towers typical for defensive purposes in historical military architecture found within England during this period.

The overall tone is warm due to what seems like sunlight casting an orange hue across the landscape, suggesting that it could be late afternoon or sunset hours.

Notably absent are modern-day structures, which lends credence to its age as a historic depiction.

It may only be 25 miles away from here in but it takes the best part of an hour to get there, as the roads are largely single-track.

A very special coastline, of great importance.

One of my very favourite places: Prawle Point - 's most southerly point.

And for the uninitiated, this is #totnes high street during Christmas shopping season

A narrow street going up a hill, pedestrians randomly walking along the pavement and/or the street itself, cars parked along one side and others driving up the street.

It’s 2025 and you can still drive a car up #totnes high street, which is the stupidest thing ever

Totnes, Devon

Graffiti in the red sandstone of the West doorway. The figure is reputed to be a member of the Commonwealth army, which was billeted in the nearby Guildhall.

A doorway made of dark red stone, into which graffiti has been incised. Top left is a simply-carved figure with small holes for eyes within a round head. A line representing the right arm is raised. The body is clothed in a loose fitting top and trousers with a belt around the waist. The trousers seem to stop some way above the feet, which are not depicted. A line runs across the bottom of the image where the feet would be.
Below the figure are G and P in capital letters. Below that are two other impressions that could be two lower case bs or the top half of a pair of scissors.
On the right hand side there are several other markings, mostly indecipherable, but a capital P and, further down, a capital B can be made out.

#Fernworthy Reservoir. From here #Torquay, #Totnes, #Paignton and #Brixham get their water. #Devon #Dartmoor

A panoramic view of a calm body of water surrounded by greenery and distant hills under a blue sky with scattered clouds. The shoreline features patches of dry land and rocks.

On the River Dart at the weekend. So beautiful and relaxing. My partner took these pics. He did most of the rowing. We stopped a few times for skinnydips and for a picnic lunch. #Devon #RiverDart #Totnes

A white man (me) wearing sunglasses, a pale cap and navy shorts is sat with his feet up in an inflatable boat. It's sunny, and behind the man we see the River Dart, lined with trees and looking beautiful. Fionn Regan at the Civic Hall in #Totnes last night. Glorious show, nearly lost all of my digits to frostbite waiting for the train home.
