#TWBlue

*If anyone can help me with this, I would sincerely appreciate it. I have no interest in discussing whether Windows 7 is supported or not. I know it's not, and I am choosing to use it. I have everything I need, except a Mastodon client, so right now, I am using 11. And no, I have no interest in Linux either.*
I normally use TweeseCake, but it doesn't work on Windows 7, and it's closed source, so there is no way of changing that. Apparently, there is a version of TWBlue that did, but I can't find it. I just tried a client called Fast SM, and it's wonderful. However, it doesn't work on 7 either. Judging by the Github page, it seems to be written in Python. I am not a programmer, but would it be possible to get modern TwBlue or Fast SM to work with Windows 7? Both of these are open source. If not, then does anyone have the old version of TWBlue?

Finally, it seems that, unlike TweeseCake, the others have some sort of retrieval limit. If, for example, I'm not on Mastodon for a day or two and have 400 notifications, TweeseCake shows all of them. But the others only show a certain number far below that. Why is this, and can it be changed?

As a side note, I tried Whalebird and it was an absolute disaster with NVDA.

In the new version of #TwBlue, how do I add someone I'm not following to my autocomplete database? I found a keyboard conflict & want to report it to the developer, so he can investigate & hopefully, fix it but I'm not currently following him. Also, how do I make it so the program shows the newest posts at the top ratehr than the bottom?

Anyone know how to vote in polls with #TWBlue? I can't figure it out.

2025-10-02

The only thing #TWBlue needs is a way to edit #Posts, its the only mastodon client that doesn't have this ability.

2025-08-27

Question about #TWBlue: Is it possible to manage follow requests? If not, is this something you'd be willing to add in a future update?

2025-08-23

I want to view my timeline without all of the nonsense that I worked so hard to filter out. TweeseCake does not respect my filters but TWBlue does. However, every time I try to start it, it says that it quit unexpectedly and it won't start. I then have to close it from the task manager. Despite appearing to be portable, it's not, and some information is stored on my machine. But I can't figure out where so that I can delete it and try to start the program again. Can anyone please help me or suggest a better accessible Windows client for Mastodon? I really hate this, since TweeseCake allows for editing of posts, but I don't want to see these things in my timeline.

I am now on piefed.social as, of course, dandylover1. I just joined a few days ago and haven't really started using it, other than to unsubscribe from a huge list of instances? accounts? topics? that I was subscribed to without my knowledge, all because I said I liked a few things. It might be a good idea to give people a list of these so that we could choose for ourselves. Also, when reading comments, every time I hit the down arrow, NVDA says "comments tree view' even while reading a single comment! It gets very annoying very quickly, and I'm not sure how to stop it from occurring. Other than that, the site seems to be quite accessible. It seems, also, that I can subscribe to some of the same places with this account here on Mastodon, but that might be confusing, since I receive so many things in my timeline from other people and pages, or whatever they're called. There are too many names for the same thing. Anyway, does anyone know if PieFed works with TweeseCake or TWBlue?

In #TWBlue, I don't think search is working properly. If I go to the application menu, find & click search, enter a term such as, "WWDC" without the quotes, the search is never undertaken. What am I missing?

2025-08-18

hmmm, still no way to add to, or remove from bookmarks in #TWBlue? Whas-up-wid-dat?

TWBlue respects my filters but TweeseCake doesn't. Why? I worked hard on them so that I wouldn't see this rubbish in my timeline! At first, I was just seeing old posts that were made prior to my inacting the filters, so I ignored it. But now, I saw some posts that showed up in my TweeseCake timeline but not the one in TWBlue. This is very frustrating. If TWBlue had editing capabilities, and less urgently, pinning/unpinning, and proper display of favourites, I would use it more often!

*Update. Okay! Never mind my previous update! TweeseCake does not respect my filters. I just saw one of my flagged words in a new post!*
*Update. It seems that I was wrong about TweeseCake not respecting my filters. When I examined them more closely, I found that the posts which contained the words that I filtered out were from prior to my doing so. So far, I haven't seen any new ones, thank goodness!*
I finally got the new version of TWBlue to work, and I am very disappointed to find that it still! doesn't offer the ability to edit posts! It is clearly possible to do so, since TweeseCake can and Mastodon certainly can. Why is such an important feature not included here? It does, however, offer the ability to pin and unpin posts and to work with filters, which TweeseCake doesn't. It also seems that, although there is an option to view them, TweeseCake doesn't show favourites. That section is always blank, no matter how many posts I like. TWBlue shows them, though as with many of its other features, it only shows forty. Can't someone just create a client that actually contains all of the features of Mastodon? And before someone says "do it yourself", I am not a programmer. Both clients are excellent for most things. It just frustrates me that, if I really wanted to do everything via a client, I have to use two of them just to accomplish my goals. Fortunately, unlike Akkoma and especially Friendica, someplace.social really is accessible from the main site.

Bra, TWBlue is having a stroke over hear. Just took some 5 minutes to load my mentions properly! Lol, #TWBlue fail!

@manuelcortez Good Evening, Would you be willing to explain how search is supposed to work in #TWBlue? I can't get it to work. Also, I'd like to have the first post at the top rather than the bottom. Is that possible?

2025-06-25

Am i the only one having trouble with search in #TWBlue? I can't get it to work, no matter what I do. Any advice?

2025-06-24

who here uses #TWBlue? I have some questions regarding its usage with #jaws2025.

2025-06-23

Who can I go to with questions about #TWBlue? I can't figure out how to find people.

One of the things that, one of the things that, one of the things that really annoys me with TweeseCake is that, whenever there's a new post, and I am trying to read something, it starts from the beginning, as I did here, instead of just making the sound to indicate a new post. There seems to be no way to stop it. It's fine when my timeline is fairly quiet, but when it gets very busy, I have to keep stopping, copy the post I'm trying to read, then paste it into Notepad so that I can read it without interruption. I really hope this issue is resolved in the next version. This is why, sometimes, I switch to TWBlue, eventhough it lacks some features, like the all-important one of being able to edit my posts. Not to mention that I can never get the updated version to work.

Hello. For the sake of honesty, Georgiana Brummell is not my legal name, but it is what I use. I live in New Jersey and am forty-two years old. Some of my interests include studying dandyism, nineteenth-century English grammar, Upper Received Pronunciation, the Italian language, British history, the Regency, opera, and MS-DOS. I like coffee, tea, wine, cooking, hot baths, reading British literature, watching nature and historical documentaries, gardening, old BBC radio shows, hot weather, and playing cards and dice. I love opera, particularly singers from the 1940-s and earlier, and I adore the tenore di grazia and lyric tenor voice types. I also enjoy English and Viennese operettas. In classical music, I like Baroque through a bit of early Romantic, while in popular, I like 1950's through 1970's. I prefer antique menswear and accessories (no feminine clothing). It's my dream to either buy a genuine Edwardian suit or have one commissioned. I love wit, wordplay, and dry humour without vulgarity. I am happily childfree, am not religious, speak my mind and am against political correctness. I also love cats. I have been totally blind since I was two months old, due to Retinopathy of Prematurity.

Does anyone know what is happening with TWBlue? Every time I try to update it, it doesn't work. The old version works correctly. I just deleted it from my spare computer and downloaded the portable version, which is what I normally use. I ran it and told it to update. I authorised my account, but when I started it, it asked about donations, then quit. When I tried it on my primary computer, it kept saying that there was an error, to the point that I just deleted it and restored the old version. Is anyone else having this problem? While we're on the subject of accessible Fediverse clients, does anyone know if TweeseCake is receiving an update soon? It still doesn't work with Akkoma, though it does work with Friendica. I have no idea why.
