Together with @hko I have worked on the "File Hierarchy for the Verification of OS Artifacts" (#VOA) in 2024 and 2025.
This #STF ( @sovtechfund ) funded #specification and #ReferenceImplementation (🦀) enables technology and distribution agnostic verification of OS artifacts.

The german taxpayer funded Sovereign Tech Agency is doing what I would expect large opensource foundations (sponsored by big corporations) to do:
-> Actually funding vital projects that are relevant to the entire ecosystem.
If you have a printer and it works with Linux, most likely OpenPrinting and Till Kamppeter made that happen.
Canonical fired him recently because he didn't contribute to Ubuntu directly (they hired him to do the OpenPrinting stuff in the first place - it seems they forgot that when they were looking at their KPI spreadsheet).
That's why manufacturer and company-independent funding of opensource projects is important.
