Here's a coin which looks better in hand than in my poor photos. Rome, 336 - 342 AD.
Two soldiers holding spiers and shields, military standard between them.
Issued under a few different emperors, I can get "constans" as the start of the obverse inscription, and between that and the portrait, I'm going with "Constans" but happy to be cvorrected (and happy for a mint if anyone can read that in the exergue of the reverse (under the soldiers)).

Happy feast day of St Eligius! Patron Saint of Numismatics!
St. Eligius, with your hands you wrought beauty and with your heart you won friends and through both you glorified God. Befriend us, dear saint, and pray that we will use our God-given talents to serve Him. Amen.

Happy Advent everyone!
Today is the first Sunday of Advent, the start of the wondrous period leading up to the birth of our Lord, Jesus - Christmas.
As we light the candle of hope, here is a numismatic candle - a non-circulating Christmas coin from 2016, Australia, featuring a candle.

#Australian #Supercars legend Allan Moffat passed away today aged 83. Moffat won four Australian Touring Car Championships, four #Bathurst victories, six Sandown wins, & more than three decades of extraordinary #Motorsport achievement.
#Moffat, famously a #Ford man, had a longstanding rivalry & friendship with legendary #Holden (General Motors) driver, Peter #Brock.

Here is a piece I wrote on the 2018 XC Falcon Cobra 40 Years PMC: https://coinofnote.com/2018-xc-falcon-cobra-40-years-pmc/. I didn't mention Moffat in the piece, he drove several XC falcons. He won Bathurst 1977 in an XC Falcon (pictured). In 1978, he drove the Cobra variant (like in the PMC), securing Pole position with a record time of 2:21.59 and a speed down Conrod strait of 159 mph, although ultimate forced to retire that race with a broken engine.

One thing I really enjoyed learning about with this piece from Papua New Guinea was the the different tribes - particularly the #Skeleton #Tribe - which seems appropriate this week for Halloween
While the link here might be tenuous, what is your favourite #numismatic piece linked to #Halloween?

Dear #SaturdayNightCoinShow, did you guess last fortnight's #MysteryCoin?
(If you did, you didn't tell me ;) ) - it was a 1943 Papua New Guinea 6 Pence: https://coinofnote.com/1943-papua-new-guinea-6-pence/
Speical thanks to @u0421793 for all your info after the previous #PNG coin which inspired this post!
Not a great pic, but here's 2023 commemorative 2 euro coin from Latvia, with a sunflower and text "Slava Ukrainai!".
Ok, as promised, here's the last #SaturdayNightCoinShow piece for me tonight - and for this one, I didn't dig through my archive of photos, but instead, I hit the "Random" button on the site.
I got to: https://coinofnote.com/1961-afghanistan-2-afghanis/

Ok let me find one last piece for #SaturdayNightCoinShow for tonight - and for this one, I didn't dig through my archive of photos, but instead, I hit the "Random" button on the site: https://coinofnote.com/?redirect_to=random
Before I share that.... if you follow the random page link above, what coin do YOU get to? Let us know!
Now for this fortnight's #MysteryCoin - 1943, a crown, a hole, a cypher (which is actually slightly different to a monogram - see this post: https://coinofnote.com/king-charles-iii-coronation-medallion/ ) - but back to THIS coin itself.... what is it?
Let us know, and keep an eye out for the newsletter which is due to hit mailboxes soon! - sign up here if needed: https://coinofnote.com/newsletter/

Do please join in #SaturdayNightCoinShow - it's just a chance to share a picture of a coin you have - it doesn't need to be fancy or in mint condition :)
This is another piece where I've written about one of its brothers. This #coin is a 2 Piastres from #Lebanon, 1925. On the site, you can learn about the slightly larger 1936 5 Piastres: https://coinofnote.com/1936-lebanon-5-piastres/
For #SaturdayNightCoinShow, and to celebrate having a new #Numismatics group - @numismatics (Do feel free to join it!) - I thought I'd find some coins to share.
Here is a 1968 #Liberia 1 Cent coin. I haven't written this one up, but I HAVE previously written up a slightly earlier 2 cent #coin: https://coinofnote.com/1941-liberia-2-cents/
Hi everyone! For those who follow me for numismatic information: good news! FediGroups have setup the @numismatics group, and you can follow it! I will try to ensure everything I post mentions it, and if you do as well, it will ensure I see it too :)
Thanks to @hello! And thanks to @FediThing who prompted me to explore further :)
Finally, for those who follow me NOT for numismatic news..... I am very curious - please reach out and let me know, as it is all I post! :)
EDIT: As I just remembered - you need to FOLLOW @numismatics before you can post to it.... and that applies to me to even though I requested the group :)

Here's one I saw online - a USA #Nickel cut to leave just a #cross in the centre.
I have a #USA #Cent which is cut the other way - only the cross shape has been removed from the middle:

"Federal Reserve contractors suspend Lincoln cent orders"
https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/federal-reserve-contractors-suspend-lincoln-cent-orders
"The Federal Reserve reports that 28 armored carrier locations nationwide contracted to distribute coins and paper money across the 12 Federal Reserve Bank districts have suspended orders and deposits involving Lincoln cents. Their action is pursuant to the Treasury Department’s decision earlier this year to suspend circulating cent production at the Denver and Philadelphia Mints. Cent production and distribution costs have well exceeded face value for more than a decade."

At the Federation of #Australia in 1901, one of the inducements for western Australia to join was the promoter of a federally funded #railway to link the continent. In 1907 legislation was passed and on 17th October 1917, the Trans-Australian railway was completed. Commonwealth #Railways was formed to run the line.
Here is a #PNC commemorating the centenary in 2017. Featuring a large coloured medallion and a $1 stamp featuring a poster.
