Okay, also it looks like the UK energy suppliers are back on their bullshit. They were told they had to stop last Winter but as soon as it started to get cold again they began securing warrants to break into people's houses and install prepayment meters again.

Last Winter I wrote this post about the history of prepayment and the shitty prepayment energy meters that infest the homes of the poor and precarious in Britain. The regulator introduced some new rules limiting forced installations but nothing else has changed.

Someone on Smart meter can be converted to prepayment without their knowing? How is this done?

Prepayment meters can be converted to smart on my supplier.

Today suggested this might be good for a friend on pre-payment, but she doesn't like the idea of smart in itself. I explained there were probs with the earlier versions but the latest seemed OK. Even though she knew it was costing more she felt safer topping-up.

The Government must urgently:
1️⃣ #BanForcedPPMs now.
2️⃣ Set out steps for consumers to remove #prepayment meters installed by this process at no cost.
3️⃣ Launch an inquiry into what has happened, evidence used by #energy firms to assess vulnerability and the role of magistrates.
