|  I’ve been a huge fan of Pierce the Veil for what feels like an eternity now. Collide with the Sky was one of the first albums and band tees I ever bought! I’ve had this funny idea of Rocko and Blake as Vic & Kellin in the “King for a Day” music video floating in my brain for a long time.

| You’re in for a… ??? Very gay time. Tim Jacobus is fucking iconic for all the work he did. I was so excited I got one of his signed prints at ECCC this past year. Truly a legend.

Blake from Pink Sugar knocking on the screen of a TV with text around it in an homage to a Goosebumps novel cover. The author is A.B. Dulceskull, paralleling R.L. Stein. The Goosebumps font is used for the words 'Pink Sugar' at the top, but pink instead of the usual green. There's some teaser text at the bottom that reads "Some skeletons won't stay in the closet..." and the title is, "The Movie of Memories."

| Of COURSE I was inspired by Emilie Kouatchou! As soon as I saw those Broadway photos, I knew what I had to do…

A piece of Rocko and Artemis from Pink Sugar. Rocko is wearing the mask of the Phantom from Phantom of the Opera. They are holding Artemis by the face tenderly. Artemis is dressed as Christine and looking back longingly. The subtitle contains musical notes to indicate that it is a part of the song, with the lyrics: "Touch me, trust me, savor each sensation."

| I had so much fun making little drawings for these! I really appreciate how much you all want to know about my silly little characters.

Q: What kind of music do the characters listen to? / Artemis: Twilight by boa, The Mother We Share by CHVRCHES, Fast Car by Tracy Chapman, Love Me More by Mitski, Wait a Minute! by WILLOW, and Les Fleurs by Minnie Riperton. / Rocko: God is Calling Me Back Home by King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, BOOGIE by BROCKHAMPTON, Fear & Delight by The Correspodnents, Istanbul (Not Constantinople) by They Might Be Giants, Ain't No Sunshine by Will Withers, and Honky Cat by Elton John.Continued from the question in the previous image of What kind of music do the characters listen to? but this time it's Satya and Blake. / Satya: Fuck Men by Ms. White, Potential Breakup Song by Aly & AJ, Jungle (Radio Edition) by Tash Sultana, Primadonna by MARINA, Bad Apple!! by RichaadEB and Cristina Vee, and What's Wrong by PVRIS. Blake: Sunny by Chris Montez, Love Potion No. 9 by The Clovers, Scared to Death by Jax Anderson, California Dreaming by The Mamas & The Papas, Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden, and Hello! Ma Baby by The Chordettes.Q: How do you get in the headspace to draw? / Answer from Alex, doing a little doodle of Artemis: I actually don't really have an off switch for wanting to draw, it's sort of always my default state of being. It's like a stim, or a soothing habit. I love to work and to keep my hands busy. I do, however, super have a problem with turning the switch OFF and doing anything that isn't drawing or working. I have to make myself take breaks for my brain and my wrist, I have to convince myself that it's okay to do literally anything else ndsjfhgadfhgjafdgQ: How long have you been drawing for? / The answer to this is stylized with a depiction of Alex at age 10 with an arrow pointing to his head that reads "Dulceskull "Lexi" Barr, Age 10, mother of 5 tamagotchis and haver of ADHD that will go undiagnosed for 15 years." The answer itself is marked up as if it's a school paper assignment given a B-. / A: OKAY SO FUNNY STORY. I have memories as early as 5 years old of drawing, such as making art of my beanie babies, and drawing stuff for my mom. HOWEVER. I have a VERY DISTINCT memory of being in fifth grade math class, and looking at the equations on the board. I started sketching an anime character in my notes. When I looked back up at the board, NOTHING ON IT MADE ANY SENSE. It was all gibberish nonsense to me. It was then that I had a single thought: "Well, this is going to be a problem for me." Internally, I decided that if my school was going to become gibberish in my brain, that I might as well use my school hours to hone down a valuable skill—like drawing Inuyasha. Years later, I graduated high school with a 2.9 GPA, straight C's, and a dream to make comics.

| I love answering these!! Y’all are so fun !

Q: have the casts designs changed a lot from the first time you drew them and can we see their first iteration and latest designs side by side? / The answer is accompanied by a before and after of both Blake and Rocko, while Satya and Artemis are in the bottom corner unchanged. The answer text reads: Blake has become softer over time, as she has been slowly healing during her journey with loved ones! Her face is a bit softer as well, and I also made her shorter. For Rocko, I slowly made them a little less skinny over time and rounded out their face a bit more. I also made their nose more prominent, a bit more similar to my Mexican gf's nose shape. (so lovely!) and I emphasized their masculinity a bit more since they're a nonbinary butch who embraces what they have. / Beneath this there are arrows pointing at Artemis and Satya that read, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" club.Q: if each of the gang had to be painted with only 1 color, which colors would it be? / Artemis: Nice, deep gold. Blake: Bright red-pink. Satya: Soft, lively pink. Rocko: Smooth, sweet yellow.Q: Where does the name DulceSkull come from? / A: A chibi version of Alex is providing the answer in two sections; one is the speech bubble, the other is small text above his head. The answer is as follows: "Dulceskull" is a reference to calaveras/sugar skulls! It's a handle I came up with for the art blog I ran in high school, which was where I kept all of my art class assignments at the time. When my family moved from Arizona to Nebraska and Iowa, I was BIG MAD. My entire friend group, my universe, and my home was there! So when I had to come up with an art blog handle, I wanted something to reference familiar-ish imagery of something comforting and reminding me of very south southwest USA. I was, and still am, very inspired by the vivid colors and beautiful energy of Mexican folk art and the culture seen around southern Arizona—something I saw a lot growing up. On pottery, on murals, in homes and resaurants, it's a type of imagery I find very comforting, reassuring, and nostalgic! It reminds me of home, my friends, and my youth! / Above Alex's head, the text reads: "Someday I'd love to sell comics at a convention in Arizona!!! <3 I'll go back to Eegee's and Beekman's..."Q: What is Rocko's tattoo? (full body one not throat/neck one) / Q: What's Rocko's tattoo that you had to sensor? / The answer is accompanied by drawings of Rocko. / A: They're snake scales! With snake heads between their thumb/index fingers. I should figure out a more official texture/concept though... I'm working on it >_>. As for the censored tattoo, there's a drawing of a heart with the word 'BIKE' written on it, and it says, "It's this but imagine an English slur word for Lesbian." It also mentions in smaller text, "I have to censor it or Webtoon will get mad... ;__;"

| Answering more of y’alls questions from the Season 2 finale! And here’s your friendly reminder that our Book 2 kickstarter is still going strong! kickstarter.dulceskull.com/

Q: Why did you go along with creating a polyamorous WEBTOON? As a polyamorous person, it's exciting to see some representation and hope for more books/other media like it. / Answer from Alex: When I first started writing it, Pink Sugar was a very different piece of media! Originally, Satya and Blake were going to end up together at the end, Rocko was going to be reunited with a long-lost lover, and Artemis was going to [redacted]. Originally, Artemis and Rocko weren't even going to join Blake and Satya for the trip! They were going to stay behind. But by the time I got to drawing them together, I realized I didn't want to separate them. I saw how much readers loved Rocko and Artemis, as well as everyone together as a group, and I decided that was what I wanted from them. A group of friends who eventually fall in love. As a polyamorous person myself, I realized I could have the best of both worlds! I could still have my slowburn romance, and make something that is a little different from what you might find elsewhere. If I can make something that scratches a specific itch of yours, something that's fun to read, and something that is a queer comfort media, then I have accomplished what I want Pink Sugar to be for myself and for you!Q: Which of the group would win a tickle fight? 2: Who be the first to lose one? / The answer features Satya looming over the rest with an arrow pointing to her that reads 'Pervert instigator.' The other three are in chibi form, with a little arrow pointing to Artemis that reads 'loser'.Q: What program + what brushes do you typically use to draw? / A: A picture of Clip Studio Paint's logo with the Simplex Soft Brush, Simplex Heavy Brush, Complex Brush 0.1, and SU-Cream Pencil shown. It's pointing to a CSP asset called "UPDATED* Soft | Heavy" by xenomorphius in the Material Catalog section, and is free. Beneath that, Alex mentions "But also!!! The first 15-ish pages of Pink Sugar were drawn on Procreate!"Q: What's everyone's ideal type? What are their MBTIs? Thank you for making this comic, it's one of my favorites. / There's a little arrow pointing to the last sentence that reads, "Thank you so much omg ;_; <3 - Alex." / Satya: Likes people who are upfront and initiate, but give her personal space and don't smother her. Prefers horoscopes for her pseudoscience. / Blake: Likes patience, enthusiasm, and clear communication. Loves to feel trusted. ENFP. / Artemis: Likes people who ask her about her interests and hobbies, someone who is sure of their love for her, and doesn't mind making it obvious. INTP. / Rocko: Likes someone who wants to share hobbies and experiences, someone to try new things with. An absolute sucker for being needed. INFJ.

| Thank you so much those of you who ask me such fun questions for my Season 2 QnA!

Q: Can we know their pronouns, sexuality, and gender? / Artemis: she/her. Femme, pan with a sapphic lean, cis woman. Blake: she/her (for now). Butch lesbian currently going through some gender stuff in canon. Rocko: They/Them. Butch lesbian, nonbinary, transfem. Satya: She/Her (but would also love neopronouns like fae/faer). Femme, bi, trans woman.Q: How are talents or blessing/powers decided? Does everyone in the afterlife have a power? Is there a sort of higher power that will punish you if you misuse it? Or are all bets off in hell? / Answer from Alex: This is actually a lot of stuff we are going to cover in the third act that I'm writing currently! I won't go fully into everything so that the comic has a chance to explain, but I will say: Blessings are decided based off of what Baphomet has seen of your life, and believes will help you heal in the afterlife. While rare, there is a forced turbo-death (the void, a neutral state of undoing) that particularly violent or ill-willed souls can receive. It's very rare though, and is the final option. Also! I feel it's worth mentioning that this is NOT HELL. It is the afterlife! I promise I am not being pedantic, this is actually important to the lore!Q: What are the characters' favorite animals and/or insects? / Artemis: Pangolins! Satya: Wolf, tiger, or dog. Blake: Panda. Rocko: Tarantula :)Q: How do you pick out the amazing music? Where is your inspiration come from? :) / Q: How do you choose the music for the episodes? / Answer from Alex: I'm so happy you asked! And I'm so so happy to know that you listen to the songs while you read! I grew up listening to a lot of 80's music in the car with my mom on the way to yard sales, so most of my favorite music is from the 60's to the 80's. Whenever I go driving, I pop on a playlist of songs for each act, and I imagine super epic awesome AMV scenarios to them in order to get ideas for each book! So by the time an episode is published, I like to suggest the song that I was listening to when I thought of the idea. I feel like it's a fun way to share music and set up a vibe! And maybe you'll find a new fun tune through it! ;_; <3

Pink Sugar Letters and SVG Font by Nicky Laatz

Your Guide to Creating Stunning, Playful Designs with the Pink Sugar Letters and SVG Font.

Some digital assets just have that special something. They possess a spark of personality that can instantly transform a good design into an unforgettable one. The Pink Sugar letters and SVG font by the celebrated designer Nicky Laatz is precisely one of those gems. It’s more than just a set of characters; it’s a complete toolkit for injecting joy, vibrancy, and a touch of glossy fun into any creative project. This guide is your complete reference, walking you through everything this incredible pack offers. It will show you exactly how to leverage its unique features for your own work. What truly makes this digital asset pack so special and a favorite among creators? Let’s explore why the Pink Sugar collection has become a go-to resource for designers everywhere.

Download from Creative Market

What Exactly Is in the Pink Sugar Letters and SVG Font Pack?

At its heart, this collection from Nicky Laatz is pure digital candy. It’s designed to give your text a beautiful, super shiny, 3D effect without any complicated steps. The aesthetic is playful, modern, and incredibly eye-catching. When you get the pack, you receive two main components that offer different levels of creative control.

First, you get a full character set of individual PNG letters. These are high-resolution image files with transparent backgrounds. Each letter, number, and symbol is a perfectly rendered 3D object with a glossy, light-catching finish. Think of them as digital building blocks for your words.

Pink Sugar Letters and SVG Font by Nicky Laatz Download from Creative Market

Second, the pack includes a matching SVG Bitmap font. This font allows you to type out your text directly, just like you would with any other font. However, it’s a special kind of font that retains the rich color and texture of the original design. This combination gives you the ultimate flexibility, allowing you to choose the best method for your specific project.

Pink Sugar Letters vs. The SVG Font: Which Should You Choose?

This is a fantastic question, and the answer depends on your project’s needs and your preferred workflow. While both options deliver that signature Pink Sugar look, they serve slightly different purposes. Nicky Laatz herself often recommends leaning towards the PNG letters, and for good reason.

The individual PNG letters offer unparalleled creative control. Since each letter is a separate image, you can manually place, rotate, and resize each one independently. Do you want to make the “O” a little bigger or tilt the “S” for a more dynamic feel? With the PNGs, you can do that with simple drag-and-drop precision. This level of control is what adds that extra layer of custom-made playfulness to your typography. It helps you break free from the rigid baseline of a traditional font, creating a truly unique and lively layout.

On the other hand, the SVG Bitmap font is all about convenience. You install it, select it, and simply type. It’s a faster way to lay out text, especially for longer phrases or sentences where manual placement would be too time-consuming. It’s an excellent option for quick mockups or projects where a uniform layout is desired. Ultimately, for those high-impact, custom-feeling designs, the PNG letters will be your best friend.

Unlocking Creative Freedom with the Pink Sugar Letters: Sizing and Customization

The technical specifications of the Pink Sugar letters and SVG font are just as important as their aesthetic. Understanding them ensures your final designs look crisp and professional, whether they are for digital screens or print.

When it comes to sizing, the PNG letters are built for high-quality work. They are rendered to print out beautifully at a maximum size of around 3 inches tall in a 300dpi document. This resolution is perfect for most print projects, like stickers, invitations, or small packaging details. Of course, you are always free to downscale them to fit any digital design, from a social media post to a website banner. The SVG letters have a fixed height of 800 pixels, which is a limitation related to SVG font file sizes, but still generous for most web-based applications.

Here’s where the real magic happens for Photoshop users. If you have a moderate skill level in Photoshop (specifically CC20 or newer), you are not just limited to pink! You can actually tweak the color of the PNG letters to match your brand or design palette perfectly. Imagine these glossy, 3D letters in a cool mint green, a sunny yellow, or a sophisticated navy blue. This feature dramatically expands the versatility of the pack, making the Pink Sugar letters and SVG font an even more valuable asset in your design library.

Software Compatibility: Do You Have the Right Tools?

Before you start creating, it’s essential to know if your software can handle these files. The good news is that at least part of this pack is incredibly accessible.

For the PNG Letters:
Because they are standard PNG image files, the letters are compatible with almost any graphic design tool you can imagine. This includes professional software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as incredibly user-friendly platforms. Yes, that means you can easily use the Pink Sugar PNG letters in Canva! Just upload them as images and start arranging your text. This broad compatibility makes the PNGs the most versatile part of the package.

For the SVG Bitmap Font:
SVG fonts are a more advanced font technology, and not all software supports them yet. To use the installable SVG font, you will need one of the following programs:

  • Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 or newer
  • Adobe Illustrator CC 2018 or newer
  • Procreate 4.3 or newer

Always check your software version to ensure you can take full advantage of the SVG font if you plan to use it.

A Quick Note on Bitmap vs. Vector

It is crucial to understand that both the PNG letters and the SVG Bitmap font are, as the name suggests, bitmap-based. This is a key technical detail.

Think of a bitmap image like a digital photograph. It’s made up of a grid of tiny squares called pixels. When you make a bitmap image larger than its original size, the software has to guess how to fill in the new space, which can lead to blurriness or a “pixelated” look.

This is different from a vector graphic, which is created using mathematical equations. Vector graphics can be scaled to any size—from a tiny icon to a massive billboard—without ever losing quality.

Because the Pink Sugar assets are bitmap-based, you should always design with your final output size in mind. They are perfect as is and for downscaling, but avoid significantly enlarging them to maintain that sharp, glossy finish.

Creative Inspiration: Where to Use Your New Favorite Font

The playful, high-end look of the Pink Sugar letters and SVG font makes it perfect for a wide range of applications. Its personality shines brightest in projects that aim to be fun, modern, and engaging.

Consider using it for:

  • Social Media Graphics: Create jaw-dropping Instagram posts, Pinterest pins, and YouTube thumbnails that stop the scroll.
  • Branding and Logos: It’s a fantastic choice for boutiques, bakeries, candy shops, kids’ brands, or any business with a vibrant and cheerful identity.
  • Product Packaging: Design eye-catching labels for cosmetics, candles, or food products that need to pop on the shelf.
  • Website Banners and Headers: Make a bold first impression on your homepage with a fun, 3D headline.
  • Invitations and Announcements: Craft beautiful and unique invitations for birthdays, baby showers, or celebratory events.

The Pink Sugar letters and SVG font invite you to have fun with your designs. It empowers you to create custom typography that feels both professional and deeply personal. Its combination of high-quality rendering, creative flexibility, and user-friendly options makes it a standout choice for any designer looking to add a little sparkle to their work. So, what will you create first?
