Lifted a bunch of parsnips for my supper. Does your sense of scale in the garden differ from in the kitchen? So, supper and breakfast, then.

Grown in fabric raised beds, 30 cm deep. Longer ones look like they've put their roots through the fabric. Soft loam in the bed I can easily push fingers into, to feel the girth before pulling and rinsing. Totally unlike when I've had to dig them out of clay with tools and scrub them. Totally mange-tout.

Camera finally on for you. Can't find any info on the nodules. Not canker. No visible organism inside, no discolouration, taste fine. Anyone?

Gonna have a bumper crop of parsnip. This planter is tricky to grow most vegetables in. It gets sun in the spring, but the trees overhead shade it too much for most veggies in the summer. After a lot of experimentation, I discovered parsnips are happy here. There is one end of the planter that does get sun, and that's where I'm growing tomatillos this year. #gardening #parsnips

Is it just me or are the smell of fresh #parsnips invigorating? Their scent is just like all sorts of freshness, some celery, some parsley, a hint of fennel.

Been food #shopping 3 times in the last two days. Well one main #delivery and two #walk and fetch. As an #urbanite, I have a lot of #choices. So yesterday went to the local #supermarket at 6am. We still don’t have 24 hour shopping except at gas/petrol station in the En gland … Eng Land … eh … must learn to use backspace …

Anyway the last shop at Lidl for #parsnips, #carrots and #potatoes came to exactly £2, sadly one of the £1 coins I put in the #robot cashier was old, not legal #tender and would have to be changed at a bank. Yeah right!

Anyway also bought in ‘Little #India’ area some #charcoal for burning #incenses and some #frankincense joss sticks. The #house# smells of #Christmas #Churchiness. :ablobdancer:
