¿Soy yo o es que #Okular se durmió en sus laureles desde 3 años atrás?

En 2014, fue una de las principales razones por las que me moví de GNOME a KDE Plasma, no había un software decente para leer/anotar formatos de documento portables, desarrollado en GTK. Xournal++ es excelente (lo sigo usando) pero en casos de uso diferentes.

Hoy, creo que Okular es de lo menos destacable entre los programas de base en #KDE #Plasma

I'll make #Firefox my default #PDF app, because I can't close the #KDE #Okular window with the same key combo as the document. I really don't want to put in the effort of positioning the pointer over the window close button.

I've got Ctrl+w mapped to the mouse DPI button - I use it all the time.

That's the 1 thing #Gnome does better, imho; usually, Ctrl+w closes the doc as well as the app.

I stumbled upon a 2300-pages-long PDF document that actually is a fantastic benchmark for slow search performance (1.5 to 5 minutes) in most PDF readers (including GNOME Papers, Evince and Okular)… so I fired up #Sysprof through GNOME Builder to measure the slowness, and reported my findings in #Poppler for all of you performance optimization aficionados: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/poppler/poppler/-/issues/1660

Da trichtert man seinen Kollegen ein, sie sollen vorsichtig sein, wenn sie unbekannte Dokumente öffnen. Insbesondere wenn das #Word-Dokument behauptet, es könne nicht richtig dargestellt werden und man solle die Schaltfläche in der gelben Leiste klicken...
... und dann bekomme ich so ein #PDF.

Sieht genauso gefährlich aus, ist aber echt. Kommt daher, dass #Okular noch keine XFA-Formulare kann.

You know what, now that I tried #Okular again, it's actually pretty good. Obviously I have to use it a bit longer to discover all the quirks, but so far it has all the functionality I need and more. It also looks quite nice on its own, even though it looks completely out of place between the other GNOME programs, but I don't really mind that.

Frage aus Laune heraus eingebaute #KI:
"Ja, auf Seite drölfhundert kommt das vor."

Frage KI warum die normale Suche das nicht findet: "Ja...vielleicht kein Text...OCR...vielleicht mal anderes Tool verwenden."

Gesagt getan: #Okular runtergeladen. Datei geöffnet. Nach Text gesucht. Gefunden.

Also echt! Hatte den #AcrobatReader eigentlich als Standard im Portfolio. Aber die Basics sollte man doch beherrschen. Ein Versagen hierbei reißt auch eine KI nicht raus.

Can some kind person help me understand and solve a quirk of Okular (23.08.5) on Plasma (5.27.12, Kubuntu 24.04)?

When I click on a link on a pdf document opened in Okular, it seems that Okular does not simply pass the link to my browser (Firefox), but that it first tries to open the link itself. For instance, clicking on an actually broken link, I get a "Host not found" error in an Okular message, rather than from my browser.

I've checked Okular's settings and backends' settings, but can't find anything about links there. In my file associations, anything related to htm and html extensions has Firefox as default.

So what's going on?

Liebe #Linux -Bubble. Vielleicht hat einer von euch einen Tipp fur mich: Ich möchte auf einem Tablet, das auch Stift-Eingabe unterstützt Pdfs lesen und markieren. Bedienung gerne so wie bei #xournal : Finger -> scrollen, Stift -> markieren. Aber warum taugt xournal nicht?
'klassische' PDF -Reader wie #okular speichern die Markierung als markierten Text ab, xournal nur als zwei Layer eines Bilds. Fur meinen Workflow brauch ich ersteres. Okular passt leider beim Werkzeugwechsel nicht mit Touch.

I need advice. I would really like to create a single giant PDF from a bunch of smaller PDFs and I want it to have a load of bookmarks or a contents tab that lets me jump to the indexed page.

I foolishly thought that I could use okular for this. I have been dutifully bookmarking my smaller PDFs but it now appears that the bookmarks do not actually form part of the file. They are somehow stored elsewhere and when my particular instance of okular is loaded it has access to all of my bookmarks. I can't access them if I open my PDFs with a different instance or a different reader.

I would really like a way of exporting the bookmark file and importing it into a new document as a table of contents. Is that possible? If not, how do I start again to achieve my goal?
