Vi un aparcamiento libre, el primero en meses delante de casa. Menos mal que siempre acostumbro a mirar bien por si hay gatos.

El coso es que había una mariposa monarca en el suelo... Justo donde la rueda podría pasarle por encima. Me bajé del coche y al cogerla vi que tenía las alas dañadas (igual es viejita).

La metí en el coche, aparqué y la subí a la azotea, que es temporada de flores de invierno.

Now for something else positive.

After finishing some chores outside, I found our first Monarch butterfly newly eclosed. Presumably a product from our small Milkweed patch nearby.

I was curious about whether hatch is the term for a newly emerged butterfly. It turns out that "[t]he correct terminology to describe a monarch emerging from its chrysalis is eclose”.

We had 3 known Monarchs that emerged last year and were disappointed that we didn’t find any chrysalis' this year. It’s nice that we found one.

I thought I would continue combining other media with cyanotype. This is a unique hand made multimedia print with linocuts and cyanotype on watercolour paper (11” x 14”). On top of the cyanotype print of Canada goldenrod, I made a lino block print of the wildflower along with a monarch butterfly and an endangered Karner blue butterfly.
