So, I decided to fork Metatext on iOS #metatext #metatextapp. I couldn’t handle dealing with all the NSURLErrors I got from certain servers (I have a single user instance that runs in #GoToSocial) I updated to modern tooling, fixed a few bugs, and even made a few enhancements. Check it out!

I’m having a lot of trouble posting pictures on Mastodon. I’m using the Metatext app, 1.7.1 (2).

It allows me to find pictures both in my pictures folder and files folder on my iPhone 11, but when I select then try to upload, I get:

“The operation couldn’t be completed. (ServiceLayer.- MediaProcessingError error 0.)

OK”

Once in a while it works, but usually it fails and I can’t fathom a reason for why it’s failing.

#1 is definitely #IceCubesApp 🏆 🥇

#MetatextApp doesn’t even make #2, so it’s dead last because it’s so bad. 😑

#MastodonApp decided not to participate, as the image detection function for alt-text generation is not available. So worse than last. 🤦‍♂️

Have any other Metatext #MetatextApp users found that it suddenly stopped loading?

The variety of apps for Mastodon is as amazing as it is overwhelming. The bare-bones ‚original’ #Mastodon for iOS, the neglected #MetatextApp, #Amaroq, my current favourite #IceCubesApp … and I haven‘t even tried #Ivory, #Mammoth, and #Mastoot yet. 😅 Which client do you use?

Is it possible to follow hashtags with #MetatextApp? If not which app does support it? #newbiequestions

Here’s my #mastodon mobile setup of choice for the moment. Two apps unfortunately.

Daily Driver: #icecubesapp
Covers all capabilities except convenient threading. It’s the most robust iOS app for Mastodon Which I’ve found personally. The Dev’s philosophy is also nicely aligned with the spirit of the #Fediverse as well 👍.

@DeeGLloyd@mastodon.world @giulia2575 If I may add: the #Mastodonapp runs quite smooth on iOS though, but lacks some QoL options.

#Metatextapp is nice, but hasn't been updated a while due to the dev's health issues.

#IceCubesApp is my current favorite, but does need its cache cleared at intervals, as it can stutter with extensive use.

First impression of the Ice Cubes app: It has a lot of customization that I like and other small but neat features, like a counter of unread posts on the Home timeline. It can even scale the font size and has a dyslexic font!

OK, am I just phenomenally missing something I’ve tried like three different clients for Mastodon and I can’t see how to mark media (attached photo) sensitive. I checked @ivory, @IceCubesApp and @mammoth

Really didn’t think marking media s as sensitive was gonna be a “feature”, thought it was more “base functionality”.

I’ve given up using @ivory for a while. Too many weird shenanigans when trying to load new toots and still no way to see alt text. I’m constantly jumping over to #MetatextApp to see what I’ve missed and it’s wasting my time to use both. Too bad, I had such high hopes.

Trying out #MammothApp as a replacement for #MetatextApp. Liking the customisation, particularly text scaling, though it's annoying that the interaction text doesn't scale down too.
