Gustave Dore. So good. the dark and light are so perfect, sort of heavy on the dark? I haven't read the poem but this is an epic illustration.

I wonder if the denizens of hell were like, there go those angels... "We're so special, we're Angels, look at us!"

I think everyone probably identifies with this image, even people on opposing sides of the same issue see this and think they are the angels and the others are the stewing churning demons?

I was thinking of some kind of archetypal - psychological thing about our whole natures and how culture serves to create social creatures.

I found an image match that associated this with Kurdish rug making. Love the complexity and symmetry, hand made with wool, amazing. I was trying to look at it as a piece of art meant to hang on a wall and I made associations with portals and maybe like different levels or elaborations of a central thing, maybe like a oneness with complex expression. haha Amazing traditional art
